New video of Navy Yard shooting

Security cameras captured haunting images of the gunman as he prepares for the massacre, and begins his rampage. The recordings show employees running for their lives. The FBI just released this video, and Joe Johns has new information on the shooter.

Navy Yard shooter's "red flags"

Today Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel acknowledged the military missed some "red flags" in the Navy Yard shooter's past. He ordered a review of security and background check procedures. And we are learning new information about the shooter's history. CNN's Jim Sciutto has the latest.

Surviving the Navy Yard massacre

We are learning more about what happened inside Building 197 from someone who was very lucky to get out alive. John Weaver lost six friends in the Washington Navy Yard shooting. He spoke to Anderson and recounted the horrifying moments when he was under fire, and those around him were getting hit. John also share his memories of those who lost their lives.

Navy Yard shooter's encounters with police

Whenever a mass killer strikes, it often seems to come out of the blue. But in the days that follow, we often learn about warning signs that were missed. That appears to be the case after the Washington Navy Yard shootings. Deborah Feyerick reports on a recent incident, where the shooter told police he was hearing voices.
360's Gary Tuchman reports from the Navy Yard shooter's former home in Seattle, where according to a 2004 police report, he shot out the tires of a car belonging to some construction workers.

Inside the Washington Navy Yard

Police now say the shooter broke his gun down into pieces to sneak it into Building 197, and reassembled it once he was inside. That is just one of the recently uncovered pieces of information that's helping authorities piece together a detailed model of exactly what took place inside the Washington Navy Yard. CNN's John King has the latest.

Shooter's security clearance

There are serious new questions about why the Navy Yard shooter was given access to several military facilities  and a "secret"  level security clearance. 360's Drew Griffin uncovers some publicly available records, that may have been missed during the background checks.

Remembering Navy Yard shooting victim Kathy Gaarde

We feel it's essential to remember those whose lives were lost in the Washington Navy Yard shooting. We want to look back at the people they were, and the lives they lived. Kathy Gaarde was 62 and lived in Woodbridge, Virginia. Her husband describes her as a devoted daughter who took care of her aging mother, until her death last year at the age of 94. Kathy was also a big hockey fan and had season tickets for the Washington Capitals. Anderson spoke with Kathy's husband Douglass and their daughter Jessica.

Navy Yard shooting raises new questions about security

The deadly shooting rampage at the Washington Navy Yard is raising serious questions about security there and at other military facilities across the country. Anderson talked with Matt Maasdam, a former Navy SEAL who served as a military aide to President Obama, and retired Navy Commander Kirk Lippold whose ship the U.S.S. Cole was bombed by al Qaeda nearly 13 years ago.
