A teenage fugitive known as the "barefoot bandit" was arrested early Sunday on the Bahamian island of Eleuthera, police said.
Colton Harris-Moore, 19, was arrested in the town of Harbor Island, police Sgt. Paul Lewis said. Harris-Moore was being transported to Nassau, Bahamas, on Sunday.

The FBI, however, did not immediately confirm Harris-Moore was in custody, saying it wanted to positively identify him through fingerprints first.
Royal Bahamian police are "absolutely confident they have him," said Steve Dean, assistant special agent in charge for the FBI's Seattle, Washington, office. The FBI will compare fingerprints to determine whether the suspect is Harris-Moore upon his arrival in Nassau, Dean said.

The father of Kyron Horman believes the child’s stepmother is involved in their son’s disappearance, according to court records released Thursday.
The revelation was made public after Kaine Horman’s restraining order against his wife, Terri Horman, was unsealed by the authorities in Portland, Oregon.
The order of protection bars Mrs. Horman from having any contact with Mr. Horman or the couple’s 19-month-old daughter.
In seeking the restraining order, Mr. Horman alleges his wife knows what happened to their 7-year-old son, who was last seen in school more than one month ago.

“I believe respondent is involved in the disappearance of my son Kyron who has been missing since June 4, 2010,” Mr. Horman writes. “I also recently learned that respondent attempted to hire someone to murder me. The police have provided me with probable cause to believe the above two statements to be true.”
A message left with Mrs. Horman’s attorney was not immediately returned.
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office had no comment to the allegations made by Mr. Horman and have not named any suspect or person of interest in connection with Kyron’s disappearance.
“We are going with the premise that yes, Kyron is alive,” said Multnomah County Sheriff Spokesperson Lt. Mary Lindstrand, “and we are going to bring him home.”

A Texas woman has been accused of killing a man who was to testify against her brother in a criminal trial, authorities said.
Sonya Amador, 25, of Houston, was charged with the capital murder of Milton Flores, the Harris County District Attorney's Office said. She is being held without bail.
Flores, 22, was found shot to death in the driver's seat of his vehicle on June 30, police said. According to investigators, witnessed observed a black SUV fleeing the scene moments after the shooting.
Upon further investigation, Amador was arrested for the murder. "The motive was learned to be retaliation to stop the complainant from testifying as a witness in another criminal offense," the police said in a statement.
"A witness came forward that indicated that the defendant, Ms. Amador, had been trying to arrange the killing," said Donna Hawkins, spokeswoman for the Harris County District Attorney's Office. "The killing was done because she didn't want the complainant to testify in court against her brother."
Hawkins said the victim had accused Mr. Amador of aggravated robbery.
She said the case against Ms. Amador's brother had been dismissed on July 2 "due to the murder of the only witness," but was re-filed on July 4 because of new evidence.

Editor's Note: Kyron Horman, 7, went missing after Terri Horman dropped him off at school on June 4. The stepmother said she last saw Kyron walking down a hallway toward his second-grade classroom at Skyline Elementary School in Portland, according to the police.

The family of Kyron Horman released answers to questions Monday submitted by members of the media. The response, which I've posted below, included new details on the investigation and on the day the boy disappeared.

KYRON
How difficult was it to be without Kyron this 4th of July?
Desiree – It was very difficult. Kyron doesn’t like real loud noises and so he generally is kind of timid when it comes to celebrating the 4th of July, but the main thing that I missed was Kyron sitting on my lap for the entire show. I always tell him he is just making sure that I am not afraid, at least that is what I tell him when his 15 year old brother teases him about it.
Kaine – extremely difficult. He likes the lights and colors but not the noises and will often sit and watch with his ears covered. We have tried a few fireworks in the past but he definitely prefers watching them. Kyron enjoys the food/BBQ that we usually do and we usually play outside most of the day, which he loves to do.
What was planned for Kyron to be doing this week if he had not disappeared?
He was supposed to be in California on vacation with his dad visiting friends – swimming, BBQ’ing, playing mini-golf, going to the water slides, a possible trip to the races, visiting to Monterey, and watching fireworks/celebrating the 4th of July with everyone.
Are you worried Terri is becoming the story and not Kyron?
Our main goal is to keep Kyron in the front of everyone’s mind because we have a better chance of finding him. So we are constantly working to keep him the focus of the story and not Terri.
Help us understand why you remain so certain Kyron is alive?
We remain hopeful because we haven’t been given any information by law enforcement to indicate he isn’t still alive and therefore we will always expect that he will come home to us.

The family of Kyron Horman is pleading with his stepmother to provide the police with more information about a missing Oregon boy.
"We implore Terri Horman to fully cooperate with the investigators to bring Kyron home," the family said in a statement released Thursday.
Mrs. Horman has been the subject of intense scrutiny since Kyron vanished on June 4.
She said she last saw the 7-year-old walking down a hallway towards his second-grade classroom at Skyline Elementary School in Portland, according to the police.
Mrs. Korman is not a person of interest and there are no suspects in the criminal investigation into Kyron's disappearance, said the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.
[cnn-photo-caption image=http://www.cnn.com/video/crime/2010/06/10/missing.boy.parents.statement.katu.640×480.jpg caption="Horman’s stepmother reported the 7-year-old missing on June 4 after he did not return from school, authorities said." width=300 height=169]
Her husband, Kaine Horman, is seeking a divorce from Mrs. Horman and has received a temporary restraining order against her, court records indicated.
In Friday's statement, the child's family asked the public to continue searching for him. "Kyron is still alive!" the family asserted. "We would like all of you, everyone, to continue to get his face out there. Continue looking for him in your day to day activities. We pray each and every day for Kyron.
"We are working with investigators daily to bring Kyron home. We are extremely confident in how the investigation is going to bring him home."
The family also responded Thursday to written questions submitted by the media. Asked where they find strength, the family said "we lean on each other and we have focus on what needs to be done to bring Kyron home. We use Kyron as our strength. We pray each day for resolution and for Kyron."
The family said not knowing where he is and not having him here with us is the hardest thing about the mystery. They were also asked what they miss most about him.
"We miss his toothless smile, the belly laugh, the pouty lips but most of all the hugs that he gives us each day," the family said. "We also miss the everyday noise that emanates the house when he is playing."

A suspected serial bank robber who uses a bicycle for hold-ups has been apprehended, California authorities said.
Hubert Rotteveel, 47, of Dixon, California, was arrested Wednesday afternoon after robbing two banks in just over an hour, Sgt. Anthony Cucchi of the Woodland Police Department told CNN.
Rotteveel pedaled up to the River City Bank in Woodland shortly before 2pm Wednesday, police said. Wearing black clothing, a black face mask, sunglasses and a white bicycle helmet, he held the tellers at gunpoint and demanded money before fleeing on a bike, authorities said.
At approximately 3pm, Rotteveel biked to the First Northern Bank in West Sacramento where he committed another armed robbery, police said.
“As he’s fleeing that bank on his bicycle,” Sgt. Cucchi told CNN, “he passes a police officer from West Sacramento and the dye-pack in his bag explodes in front of the officer.
“He tries a quick getaway and the officer gets right on him and apprehends him.”
Rotteveel is being held at the Yolo County Jail. Bail is set at $200,000.
Authorities believe he may be linked to several armed bank robberies in Northern California, including one in Santa Cruz on Monday afternoon.

The teenage fugitive accused of stealing planes, cars and boats along the West Coast is now wanted in the nation's heartland, police say.
If the allegations against Colton Harris-Moore, 19, are true, the young man may have become more desperate, if not dangerous, according to authorities.
Harris-Moore, dubbed the "barefoot bandit" because he was without shoes when he allegedly broke into houses in Oregon and Washington, is suspected in a string of brazen thefts and break-ins in South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa. Authorities in Madison County, Nebraska, issued an arrest warrant for Harris-Moore on Friday, court documents show. He has been charged with burglary and theft by unlawful taking or disposition. The affidavit supporting the warrant details a crime spree fitting the alleged pattern of the elusive teen, who has amassed thousands of followers on Facebook.

caption="A Facebook fan page for Colton Harris-Moore. He is suspected of stealing planes, boats, and luxury automobiles."]
Harris-Moore also is suspected of breaking into a home in Yankton, South Dakota, on June 17, police said. The residents returned early one morning to find the intruder inside the house, said Jerry Hisek, the Yankton Police Department's assistant police chief.
"He'd eaten some of their food, took a shower, cut his hair," Hisek said of the intruder. "He started to run and the guy chased him into the basement of the house."
The intruder "laser-dotted the guy and said, 'I have a gun. Get out of here, or I'm going to kill you.'" Hisek said the owner did not know if the individual had a laser pen or a gun.
"We're classifying him as armed," he said. Authorities say they suspect Harris-Moore broke into two airports: Chan Gurney in Yankton and Karl Stefan Memorial in Norfolk, Nebraska.
On June 19, a Toyota Sequoia was reported stolen in Yankton, police said. The vehicle was recovered the next day in a park in Norfolk, according to an affidavit that alleges that Harris-Moore illegally entered the Norfolk airport the same day.
In the airport incident, a person disabled a surveillance system and tried to get inside a plane that was in a hangar, police said. Security video from the airport indicated it is likely the person was Harris-Moore, police said.
Two days later, a Cadillac Escalade was stolen from the Norfolk airport. It was found later that day in Pella, Iowa, authorities said, adding that the suspect stole another vehicle in Pella before dumping it in Dallas City, Iowa.
Authorities have been looking for Harris-Moore since 2008, when he escaped from a juvenile halfway house in Renton, Washington, where he was serving a three-year sentence. He had pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary.
The San Juan County, Washington, sheriff's office has called Harris-Moore a suspect in the thefts of four small airplanes. Two planes were recovered after "hard landings" that resulted in thousands of dollars in damage.
In June, the San Juan County Sheriff's Office said Harris-Moore also was a suspect in the theft of a fishing boat.
Harris-Moore has not been charged with stealing the boat or planes.
20th Century Fox has purchased the rights for a film based on the exploits of the young fugitive.

The California bike-riding bank robber has struck again.
The suspect, who uses a two-wheeler for his getaways, held up a bank on Monday afternoon, the Santa Cruz Police Department said.
“He rolled in on a bike,” police spokesman Zach Friend told CNN. “We spoke to the FBI and they believe he is associated with other robberies in the San Francisco area.”
Friend said the bandit rode away on a bike in each of the hold-ups. “It could be just an easy transportation point to a vehicle,” Friend added, “so it’s quite possible there’s a vehicle parked in the neighborhood.”
According to investigators, the suspect entered the bank wearing a helmet and carrying a black messenger bag.
He handed a teller a note demanding money and stated that he had a weapon, police said. The robber left with an undisclosed amount of money.
“It’s one of those things where the teller was legitimately scared,” Friend said. “If somebody comes up to the front and says they have a gun, that is a very traumatic experience. The teller did everything she was supposed to do.”
The suspect was last seen pedaling away from the bank, a mode of transportation that Friend said may give a criminal an advantage.
“It affords greater opportunity of entering into smaller areas, alleys, hiding in driveways,” he said. “It makes the suspect smaller than a vehicle would.”
The suspect is described as a white male in his 40’s. He has brown hair and is believed to be 6’1” and 170lbs.

An original cast member from television’s “Melrose Place” was formally charged in New Jersey Monday with vehicular homicide.
Amy Locane-Bovenizer, 38, was accused of driving under the influence when she allegedly crashed into another car, killing a passenger, the Montgomery Township Police Department said.
[cnn-photo-caption image=http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/06/28/amylocane_web.jpg width=292 height=320]
According to the authorities, Locane-Bovenizer, of Hopewell, New Jersey, was driving a 2007 Chevy Tahoe Sunday night when she struck a 2010 Mercury Milan driven by Fred Seeman.
Helene Seeman, the passenger in the Milan, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Mr. Seeman was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries.
In a statement, Somerset County Acting Prosecutor A. Peter DeMarco, Jr., said “responding officers detected the odor of alcohol on defendant Locane-Bouvenizer’s breath and observed other signs of impairment.”
In addition to vehicular homicide, Locane-Bovenizer was charged with assault by auto. She faces 5 to10 years in prison if convicted, authorities said.
Locane-Bovenizer played Sandy Louise Harling on “Melrose Place.” She has appeared in several films, including “Airheads,” “Cry-Baby,” and “School Ties,” according to the Internet Movie Database.

An Indiana woman locked her twin baby daughters in their bedroom while she was away from home for hours, police said.
Jacquelyn Wood, 24, of Lebanon, was charged with two counts of neglect of a dependent.
Wood was arrested Sunday after returning home intoxicated, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. She has since posted bail.
[cnn-photo-caption image=http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/06/28/j_wood_pic_web.jpg width=292 height=320]
According to investigators, Wood’s grandfather stopped by the house Sunday morning and heard the 2-year-old girls crying and screaming from inside.
“He ended up breaking a back window on the back door to get into the house,” Deputy Chris Burcham, Public Information Officer, told CNN.
A nylon “tie down” strap, wrapped from the bedroom door handle to another door handle, prevented the children from leaving the room, police said.
The grandfather untied the strap, entered the room and found the girls were unharmed, authorities said.
The mother of the twins arrived home intoxicated while the deputies were still at the house investigating the incident, Burcham said.
“She stated she was with her mother, and that ended up not being true,” Burcham added.
The children were placed in the custody of another family member, police said.
Major Mike Nielsen commented:
“It’s a tragedy when children are victims of any crime especially child neglect because they can not defend themselves,” said Major Mike Nielsen in a statement.
“ In this case these children were put into grave danger by being locked in that bedroom and isolated for that amount of time. We are fortunate that the air conditioner was working and did not fail or the house did not start on fire while those children were in there. As serious as this was… it could have been much worse.”
