Ariel Castro's final act

It was a shocking final act for a man who committed unthinkable atrocities. In court today, Ariel Castro outlined his delusional justifications for his crimes minutes before a judge sentenced him to life in prison plus 1,000 years. One of the most powerful moments came when Michelle Knight, one of Castro’s victims, took the floor and addressed her captor. Life after Ariel Castro

Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight are making the difficult transition from a life controlled in every way by Ariel Castro, to one of freedom. Ed Smart is one of the few people who have any idea what this process is like. Anderson spoke with Smart about his daughter’s recovery after spending nine months in captivity. They were joined by family psychologist Rebecca Bailey, who has counseled kidnapping survivor Jaycee Dugard.

To help educate and empower kids, Ed Smart recommends checking out http://www.radkids.org.

Michelle Knight showed unimaginable bravery, not just speaking in court today, but sitting through Ariel Castro's entire tirade.  Tonight, Ed Smart told Anderson about the moment his daughter faced her accuser in court.
