Keeping Them Honest: Will the U.S. send in ground troops to fight ISIS?

The U.S. is in the middle of an air campaign against ISIS. If that fails, will the Obama administration send combat troops on the ground? It seems to depend on who in Washington you ask. Anderson Cooper is Keeping Them Honest and asked White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest. He described the role members of the U.S. military may be asked to play on the ground in Iraq.

1ST Infantry Division, Fort Riley, KS just cased its Colors in a ceremony yesterday. For non-military types, this means 1ST Infantry Division is on its way back to Iraq. That is 500 Soldiers boots on ground. Pres Obama says these troops are not in combat and taking an advisory role. Having been with the 1ST Infantry Division myself, my husband as well, and both of us deploying multiple times to Iraq, it is almost disgraceful how the politics are involved! It isn't right to send troops to an area, where multitudes of people are being killed, dying, starving, being displaced, jobless, homeless and the like and not pay them appropriately and give them the appropriate honors they deserve. Make no mistake, this is a combat zone and they should be appropriately decorated and paid by the American people no matter how unpopular this decision may be. We, the folks who have been boots on ground time and time again, KNEW we would once again be in Iraq. I am just too happy to be retired after 20 years!!
