Reporting from the ground in Ferguson, Missouri, CNN's Jason Carroll profiles 18-year-old Michael Brown, the young man shot and killed by a local police officer nearly a week ago.
In his story, Carroll presents two distinct and opposing descriptions.
In one case, friends and family members describe the teen they knew as "Big Mike" to be a gentle giant, someone whose large build was matched only by an even bigger heart.
However, surveillance video from a nearby convenience store depicts Brown as an aggressive petty thief, one who shoplifted a package of cigars on the morning of his death.
For a balanced look at the teen that was Michael Brown, watch Carroll's report above.
