The downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 came a day after the U.S. imposed sanctions on some of Russia's biggest companies. Those sanctions were sparked by Moscow's failure to curb violence in Ukraine. Anderson Cooper looks at the conflict that brought us to this point.
Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 is not the first plane to be shot out of the sky. While it may seem especially rare, Randi Kaye reports that this type of tragedy has occurred far too often.

Malaysian Airlines flight attendant Carlmen Low Kar Marn lost four friends who were flight attendants on board MH17. That includes her best friend Shazana Salleh. Carlmen shares her memories of their friendship with Anderson Cooper. She even recounts their final moments together as they drove to the airport so Shazana could catch MH17. Carlmen also wanted to share some photos they took together.
