More than 1 million Iraqis have been forced from their homes by conflict this year, according to the U.N. refugee agency. It's a number likely only to rise as Islamist militants and Iraqi security forces battle for control. CNN's John Berman discusses the escalating crisis in Iraq with Ann Marie Slaughter, former director of Policy Planning at the State Department. She currently runs the New America Foundation. And, Philip Mudd, who's held counter-terrorism leadership positions at the FBI and CIA.
Anderson Cooper goes beyond the headlines to tell stories from many points of view, so you can make up your own mind about the news. Tune in weeknights at 8 and 10 ET on CNN.

Anderson Cooper: Many years ago I and Benjamin Netanyahu were talking about whatever whoever wanted to say- no importance about that phone call. At one point he asked me about Iraq and the idea that the Iraqi army had nothing to do because the US was taking control of the country- could they get into any mischief(his word). I said maybe and that I would keep a eye on Iraq. During the next few months I saw the Iraqi army(Shia government orders) take the precise area and towns that you and many others say that the ISIS "militants" invaded and took in the last 10 days or so. Those Shia-ordered soldiers killed 10s of thousands of blood relatives of now- ISIS people. Those Shia-ordered soldiers drove those Sunni people(people!) into Syria. Now I say why I write this message: Today, Monday, when I saw you on CNN I heard you ask a guest why are those foreigners such as Americans and others going to Syria and Iraq to help ISIS? Are you so selfish in your reporting that you ignore the obvious: the ISIS people are fighting for the homeland that they were born and raised in and they want to return to the blood relatives that the Shia drove them away from. The Shia made a sectarian decision to drive the Sunni out of Iraq but now the love of family drives ISIS back to their homeland and the homeland of their ancestors of 1,000 years.
