Remembering Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou's voice may have fallen silent today, but her words live on. Angelou died at her home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina at the age of 86. She was a poet, civil rights activist, a singer, a dancer and when she was just 16, Angelou became San Francisco's first female streetcar driver. Anderson had the honor of speaking with Maya Angelou several times. We wanted to share the full interview from their conversation marking the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.

Watch part two of the interview:

Their most recent conversation was about six months ago following the death of Nelson Mandela. She spoke about his legacy and even broke into song.

Donald Sterling prepares to "fight to the bloody end"

When Shelly Sterling started lining up buyers for the L.A. Clippers, it may have seemed, at least for a minute, that Donald Sterling was ready to walk away from the NBA. In fact, he cleared the way in a letter to the NBA confirming that he authorized his wife to negotiate the sale of the team. But now, his lawyer tells ESPN that Donald Sterling "is going to fight to the bloody end," and "he disavows anything" Shelly is doing to sell the team. So what's next for the Clippers? Anderson spoke with CNN legal analysts Sunny Hostin and Jeffrey Toobin along with Rachel Nichols, host of CNN's Unguarded.

If the pings are not from Flight 370… where did they come from?

It was the most promising lead in the search for Flight 370, but now investigators say those underwater pings did not come from the missing plane's black boxes. Those pings helped shape the search zone and set the path for the underwater sub. So where does the search go now? Anderson got the latest from Rene Marsh, aviation correspondent Richard Quest and analyst David Gallo, who co-led the search for Air France Flight 447.

Family of UCSB shooting victim Veronika Weiss: She would reach out to the people who were not getting the love and affection they deserve

19-year-old Veronika Weiss was in the wrong place at the wrong time when bullets started flying during the Isla Vista, California rampage. She was shot and killed outside the Alpha Phi sorority house, though she belonged to a different sorority. Her father, Bob, and brother, Cooper, told Anderson how they spent hours sitting at the edge of the crime scene waiting for word. They went on to say that they are not angry with the family of her killer.

Report: 42 VA hospitals now under investigation

A shocking new report on problems at the Phoenix VA hospital details at least 1,700 veterans who were waiting to see a doctor and were never scheduled for an appointment. They were also never placed on a wait list. A new report from the VA's Office of the Inspector General confirms much of what AC360 has been reporting for months now. It found vets spent months waiting for care and Phoenix employees cooked the books to hide it. The scandal is expanding with 42 VA hospitals now under investigation. Drew Griffin is Keeping Them Honest and has the latest on the shocking report.

Anderson discussed the findings with Drew Griffin along with Paul Rieckhoff, founder and CEO of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.
