He escaped a prison sentence after his lawyer called an expert witness who argued that Couch never faced any serious consequences for his actions before, and shouldn't now. So ignorance of the law was an acceptable excuse? That has never worked for me so just because someone is coddled and rich it shouldn't work for them.
