Time is running out for more than 200 bottlenose dolphins captured by Japanese fishermen and herded into a cove to await mass slaughter.
If anything happened to Japan, should we help protect them because they're cute and clever? What a bunch of complete crap. Cute and clever.... The dolphin brain is known to be more complex then a human brain, and I just wish there was a way we could deter them from going near Japan. Japanese people need to see the senselessness behind the killing they allow. Pigs and cows are domesticated farmed animals bread for a small existence, but my God, we are paying dearly for that also. Two wrongs don't make a right.
Pigs, cows, and chickens all feel pain and have a family. There is research that proves pigs are actually just as capable and intelligent as dogs and other domesticated animals. To say that killing any such animal is alright, absolute insanity. You are stressed seeing a couple hundred dolphins being killed? Think about the hundreds of thousands of animals being heartless slaughtered in your own country! It's not just Japan that it so wrong, it's every meat eater and country in the world that supports the meat industry. STOP KILLING THEM! STOP MEAT! You can live just fine through plants and fruits and nuts, be more open minded. HAVE A HEART AND BE GIVE UP THIS HORRID FORM OF VIOLENCE!!!!!
I don't agree with the slaughter of any animal. Yet we unfortunately do slaughter animals here in the western world but we are not heartless and Inhumane they way they slaughter these dolphins. Our animals do not run around trying to find a way out and cry for help, they do not live in family groups and stay with one mate throughout there life, they do not come to the aide of a human and protect them from predictors or help them to safety the way a dolphin will. There is no way this is the same as what we do. We don't make them suffer a slow horrifying death the way these poor dolphins suffer. There is no comparing. Why does Japan want to sell mercury laidened meat to there country anyways. This slaughter is so scenceless. Please stop....
I am sorry to say this Noel, but this idea that you have that our animals are somehow treated in a more humane way is completely false. Our animals absolutely do suffer from unnecessary abuse throughout their lives, get pumped full of hormones, run around trying to escape, almost always have their beaks cut off, often get shoved into much more crowded caged areas their entire lives, have their eyes gouged, have their young forcibly taken from them, and (even though this is technically not supposed to happen) may get skinned alive for their coats by people who don't want to bloody the pelt in the process. That's why we have a few brands out now claiming that they are "cruelty-free" while the majority do not make this claim of their meats. Also, pigs are smarter than dogs and horses and have basic emotions that are on par with a human's. At least these dolphins actually got to live before they died, which is more than can be said for our animals. I don't agree with the unnecessary torture of any animal, but I do find it to be more than a little ironic that ppl can be so terribly appalled by what is happening to the dolphins in Japan while remaining blind to the lifelong torture and cruelty experienced by the animals that we eat right here in our own backyard. And you can research all of these facts and more about what the meaning of "life" is to the majority of American farm animals.
The Cove team is a group of people who have made the world better by raising awareness of this brutality. It is up to the rest of us to carry the message that dolphins do not belong in captivity and nobody should buy tickets to places like SeaWorld or swim with dolphin holidays. The slaughter is the price these creatures pay for the amusement of humans.
Stop this in humane treatment of killing dolphins mercilessly. This barbaric act must stop now.
Dolphin meat has high concentrations of mercury, thou they are selling it ( under a different name ) and has been found in children's school lunches. Using tradition as a reason for continuing the slaughter of these intelligent and sensitive creatures is just a bad argument. It was tradition to bind women's feet, to enslave people. Does it mean all 'traditional practices' are acceptable? The real money is made selling the few that are culled to entertainment parks, so do the dolphins and the whales a favour and boycott any place that exploits these lovely beings for entertainment purposes. Then we will see Taiiji shut down. Thanks Anderson and Caroline for lending your voice to this important issue.
Anderson Cooper, CNN, thank you for sharing and raising this HORRIFIC issue to light. People need truly see and understand what is happening to our dolphins. These species are the most intelligent and belong to our planet, to everyone, and not one nation should feel that they can slaughter these "non-human persons".
How would you feel if you were ripped apart from your family and stressfully spent 4 days without food at the end of which, you'd be slaughtered. Please understand the damage and pain such actions are creating.
Also, please do your own research before taking a stance. thank you.
someone anyone stop this from happening!!!!!this is awful. people stop being entertained by our precious animals.
Thank you for reporting on the dolphin slaughter in Taiji, Japan. This barbaric, so called 'tradition' needs to be kept in the headlines. The fisherman of Taiji and the Japanese Government seem to believe that these dolphins they drive in land from the ocean are 'theirs' to slaughter. It is the responsibility of all the worlds countries to protect life in our oceans. The Japanese Government need to answer to the rest of the world for this money fuelled disgrace they allow every year. It's about time Governments from other countries hold the Japanese Government to account for their attacks on the worlds oceans and it's inhabitants for MONEY!
This is terrible and inhumane. There's no reason why this should still be happening. It's a barbaric practice that should be stopped. Certain "traditions" that impede progress or cause unnecessary harm should end.
This is needless and just plain sickening! What can the rest of the world do to stop these heartless, ignorant Japanese hunters of such docile creatures?
Thank you for bringing attention to this horrific slaughter, I pray from my heart that enough compassionate people will care enough to tip the scales and make this despicable practice a thing of the past. It breaks my heart.
