The U.S. Supreme Court has explicitly held it is legal for a citizen to warn other citizens of a speed trap. By blinking headlights and posting a sign.
This guy deserves whatever legal repercussions that are decided by the judge. At the very least, he should be charged with obstruction of justice or some other form of interfering with police business. Unless you have a medical emergency, you have no right to speed and endanger the lives of others. If you take that chance, prepare to pay the consequences. This guy is merely a self-righteous, pompous individual looking out for other self-righteous people.
@Rob – will all due respect (and that's not really much) – you're quite dim....This guy has every right as protected by our most fundamental rights to stand there and do what he did. Your small-minded comment about speeding is irrelevant to start with – there are plenty of people on the road who are a menace without speeding. Nonetheless, that has zero relevance to this guy's rights. I sincerely hope a good free speech attorney steps in and protects this guy from overzealous local law enforcement and their trampling of his rights.
IF and only if he was arrested for just holding a sign – then on what legal grounds ? As stated he was offering the public a service better than the public servants.
So much missing from this story. The man was not arrested just for holding this sign. He has done many other things that the news did not report. So ridiculous.
If the news didn't report it ? How do you know what all he supposedly did?
