Speaking of President Kennedy this evening, I was 15 at the time of his death..prior to that which no one mentioned...President Kennedy and his family represented strength physically as he asked us to do the 50 mile walk and their playing of touch football in their family gatherings women included (except Jackie) also Jackie opening the White House to the people on TV and her program to collect the things which belonged in the White House from people who had come about them encouraging them to donate them back where they belonged...and finally hearing Cardinal Cushing's gravelly voice at the funeral was sad and awesome setting the mood of the day of the burial..remembering seeing the eternal flame lit as dusk came and all those world leaders marching in the procession..these are my vivd memories of this amazing man who also suffered quietly his own physical back pain and illness...the rocking chair being moved out of his office that very evening with boxes...may he continue to Rest In Peace.
