Adrianne's Journey

Adrianne Haslet-Davis is a survivor of the Boston bombings. The professional dance instructor lost her left leg below the knee and has vowed to dance again. Adrianne, along with her husband Adam, who was also injured in the attack, agreed to videotape her recovery for AC 360°. The journey they documented in the six months since the bombings is filled with triumphs and struggles of both body and mind. Through every step, Adrianne is determined to be made whole again, resilient in the face of extreme challenges. She insists no one should ever call her a victim – she’s a survivor.

I cried watching this report last night. It showed the emotional toll that such a trauma can take on a survivor. I remembered the terror I felt when triggered long after the brutal sexual assault I suffered as a teenager. I wish I could hug this young lady and reassure her that she'll enjoy fireworks again someday. I have to wonder if showing things like the report on Adrianne might just thaw cold hearts enough to prevent some instances of abuse.

Rev, bombs are horrible, regardless of the time or place. This however, does not seem the time or place to point out out political persuasions.

This couple, like other survivors (in countries everywhere) are working hard to regain and maintain control after a senseless, selfish act of righteousness. Human beings did this, and these surviving human beings are to be encouraged, and ...

Taken to dinner – and dancing ASAP! ~ You may leave the dance, Adrienne, but the dance never leaves you; you and yr husband are powerful and energetic. Be bold and be brave, and you WILL dance again!

Dancing with you in spirit, my dears.
