Crime & Punishment: Family demands justice for Marlon Brown

Editor's note: This report contains video some viewers may find disturbing

The family of Marlon Brown is demanding a federal investigation after he was struck and killed by a police car. The incident was recorded by the dashboard camera. The family released that video after a grand jury declined to indict the police officer for vehicular manslaughter, and Brown's death was ruled an accident. 360's Randi Kaye has the story.

Anderson discusses this case with Marlon Brown's family attorney Benjamin Crump and Jose Baez, a criminal defense attorney who formerly represented Casey Anthony.

Simple solution, follow police commands and stay alive. Typical blame the other guy!!!

Sorry but you run when you've done something wrong.... It's clear it was an accident .. He had no way of knowing the guy would fall.

How absolutely horrible. He gets hit and there is NO reaction from the officer. They don't even move fast to check underneath the car to see if he's there, alright, ?? Obviously, running from the police is not right and their are consequences for that. But NO REACTION, NOTHING from the officers at all? A normal person would've freaked, jumped out run to check, tried to save him, something. Both were in the wrong here....I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry for his children.

He got what he deserved. I don't feel sorry for him one bit! His family needs to realize this. I'm sorry for his family but, He ran from the cops. If he had just pulled over the first time he would still be alive. You run from the cops, could result in death, PERIOD! Pull over when an officer asks you to!

The officer was not in danger nor was the public unless this guy was armed and running to go kill somebody, the officer used his car as a deadly weapon and killed the man. The officer belongs in prison for vehicular homicide.

He commits a crime, sends police on a high speed chase, jumps from car, runs on foot to get away then slips and falls and the police are at fault. I don't think so!! It's a tragic accident create from the start by Marlon Brown.

Sorry, but I have no pity. If he hadn't run from the cops, he wouldn't have been in that situation. No, he didn't deserve to die over a seat belt, but the cop doesn't deserve his life ruined because he was doing his job and a tragic accident occured.

This is why most people dont run. The police here in Florida think they are the judge and jury. One more reason to move out of this state. But with lawyers that are representing this family I do believe that this is all about money.

I'm sorry for her loss but her husband should have stopped. He was afraid to go back to jail so he should have been home with his wife and family. I think the most she's going to get from this is the officer being fired.

When will people realize that running from the police is only going to make the situation worse. When I see this video, it looks as though the mad slipped and there was no way the police car could have stopped in time. It does not look like the police officer intentionally tried to hit him. You run from a cop, you pay the consequences.

The Officer should not be charged with anything. He is doing his job, why did the man run... BECAUSE HE WAS GUILTY OF SOMETHING... That is one thing wrong with this country, our police officers are not allowed to do their job... Excuse me young man will you please stop, just does not work. So tired of the Police not being able to SERVE AND PROTECT because everything they do is under a microscope. Sorry for the family's loss but he was running when he should of stopped.

Benjamin Crump once said, "If George Zimmerman did not get out of his car Trayvon Martin would still be alive." If Marlon Brown did not get out of his car he would still be alive.

This is terrible. I work law enforcement and he use his car as deadly force with out cause; it would be like using a gun without cause.
