Synthetic drugs: A threat all parents need to know about
Synthetic designer drugs are flooding into the U.S., mostly from China. They are being sold to younger and younger teenagers. Colorado health officials are investigating three deaths, to determine if they are tied to a batch of synthetic marijuana that's put more than 150 people in the hospital. The highs they deliver are dangerously potent, they've caused psychotic reactions, kidney failures and suicides. But law enforcement is having a tough time keeping ahead of the chemistry involved. Investigative correspondent Drew Griffin recently went along on a major raid.

Synthetic Marijuana is called Marinol. Calling these synthetic concoctions any variation of marijuana is a trick to scare people into being afraid of marijuana. These designer drugs are more closely related to the "bath salts" that triggered that psychotic face eating incident. I wish there was more journalistic integrity and less fear mongering.
I guess you said it better than I did (since my 9/13/2013 comment forever 'awaits moderation'), but I thought you should know that you are not alone with this sentiment. I went as far as adding 'use of the term synthetic marijuana' to my list of pet peeves, but still wonder if I can do more to 'stomp out this practice'. Since I can't really think of anything else, I'll just get back to my 'synthetic bread and water' (aka donut and coffee) and watch CNN through my 'synthetic window'.
