Diana has worked tirelessly for years, to accomplish her dream. How sad it is that people have to try to destroy her happiness and joy over this great accomplishment. I am so proud of her for not quitting. It seems there always are troublemakers, that try to ruin our hero's.
TRUTH OF THE MATTER
Nyad is a cheater. The hard data from her GPS positions, the tide chart analysis and her activity logs DO NOT tally. And she is NOT transparent about the data and her observers arent independent.
sorry - i do not believe that she did it without being towed or resting on the boat
Cheating in sports is very dispicible and dishonest and even more when setting a rocord by cheating. This should be thoroughly examined and if not proven genuine than should be excepted as a cheat. Think about the damage to the future generations because looks like she did impossible. Unless the whole 57 hours recorded and made public we should not trust anybody. Their word should not set the record.
This has to be a very small community, marathon swimmers, so why would one of your own who knows exactly how difficult this feat is be so willing to toss stones at someone who will likely never have the opportunity to repeat it and prove them wrong. Perhaps that's the very reason. They can place doubt in the minds of the unschooled, they should hope that should they ever succeed in the future in a record breaking swim, she isn't the one throwing stones.
I agree with you, & it's sad how quickly people want to believe the worst in others & that their success is failure. Competition is fierce in any sport & there will always be someone within each sport trying to knock the record holder off the top. Calling someone a cheat is the easiest way, & for anyone who watched the show about Diane Nyad's first attempt, training, process & ultimate victory, there should really be no doubt! She is an amazingly strong, committed & competitive woman, who wanted so very badly to accomplish something & she was able to do it! She should be congratulated, instead of having to deal with people who are stupid enough to believe in "Joe's matter of truth, just because he throws around a bunch of relevant words as so do conspiracy theorists!!
