I am a California tax payer and I am absolutely disgusted by this story how do these people still have jobs? Unbelievable I want to thank you Anderson & Drew for doing this story and being persistent on getting answers even though they couldn't give you or California's an answer but looking forward to the follow up on this scam thanks Wendy

I worked as a house manager for a drug and alcohol rehab home. THIS BUSINESS IS A SCAM. I know some of the in's and out's of what goes on and it's a joke. The only positive thing is that they supply clients with a sober home. Some of the counselors dont even have degrees. Medications for the clients are stolen by staff members. Clents family's and insurance companies are charged different amounts for the same "treatment" if that's what you want to call it. 9 clients per home at an average rate of $10,000 per client????? Come stay at my house for half that and I'll provide the same "treatment". $90,000 per month for what????
If CA created 10 new jobs at $100,000/yr to investigate fraud, they would recoup their investment hand over fist. Unfortunately, big government encourages fraud with its incompetence, inefficiency and immorality.
Michelle..Those are not rehabs,..but 1/2 or 3/4 housing (sober living), two or three are comon in the same neighborhood...but eight?? That might need some looking in to. Reilly Fam....Many people DIE everyday,...going through withdrawal, especially alcohol withdrawal. That's like saying let them die, literally. You "#2" is spot on,AA,NA works..if you work it. Roger...ALL rehab....is NOT a racket...and odds are, several people you know and love are alive because of it.
Now that i got that out of the way,.....this kinda unfortunate greed happens everyday. It's unfortunate that their business was rehab. As one can see, theirs still plenty of misconceptions addicts face as it is, we don't need any more.
My daughter was send by a Doctor from a hospital in Sta Clarita CA to a rehab, now we know that possibly he is co-owner of the rehab. Charges to my daughters insurance $1,000.00 a day. Rehab is one family home approx. 20 girls sharing one bathroom, boys and girls sleeping on a matress on the floor 5 girls in one room. Bussed by rehab to AA 12 step meetings where she met a man with 20 year criminal record mandeted to AA and NA by courts as a plea bargain. 4 months later this man is being charged with my daughters murder one. What is happening in California is not limited to that state. In Prescott, Arizona we are being overloaded in the neighborhoods with Rehabs. Houses are being rented and bought for this purpose. Where I live there are LITERALLY "8" Rehabs within a block. We live in a nice neighborhood with children, retired, college, and a Elementary across the street. This is way too many and people do not feel entirely safe with that many in a small area. We all want people to get better but the percentages are not high and that is what concerns the residents. We'd love to have you come to our town and investigate. Wouldn't you think 8 rehabs are too many within a block?
Forgot to mention that in our residential neighborhood it started with 1 Rehab and in less than a year it is now 8 within a block area. The residents are wondering if it is one person? Is it a Racket? Please investigate. We have a Elementary across the street.
I just went through such a nightmare. I'd be glad to do an interview about my experience here in Little Rock, AR.

allan loyd levy m. d. the dr. that treated the anthrax killer for addiction and depression was found incompitent and negligent by the medical lisence board in maryland. did he prescribe the meds bruce killed himself with. his treatment of at least a dozen addicted patients was cited.
I reported a facility that was doing this ten years ago I they got caught too
1. Dry out in a prison cell for 28 days = it's free
2. Require addicts go to NA or AA = it's free & has a proven success record (not perfect but @25%)
We have to pay for the other needs in Michelle Bachmann's life somehow. She only gets free great gov't health care and lifetime high gov't pension otherwise.
All rehab is a racket. If you can voluntarily overcome "addiction," then you weren't addicted in the first place.
