Pres. Morsy defies military's ultimatum
After Egypt's president refuses to step down, Cairo braces for more protester clashes. Ben Wedeman reports.
Update: 3:15 p.m. ET
Egypt's top military officer announced President Mohamed Morsy is no longer the leader of the country. In a televised address on Wednesday, Gen. Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi outlined a political road map for the country to follow. He warned the military would respond firmly to any violence.

You don't oust a president because you don't like what he has done! You have to wait until the next election. If they are successful a second time of forcing a leader out by having a big temper tantrum, it's never going to end. I applaud Morsy and think he is doing the right thing to go down with the ship. He is fighting for democracy, but his people have no clue how to conduct themselves in a democracy. It's all about who is the biggest bully in Egypt!
It is way too early to decide if this is a coup and you are naive to suggest that what happened today is un democratic. To suggest that the people of Egypt should wait for the next presidential election to remove Morsi is foolish at best. It is like suggesting that woman in Texas should wait to vote Rick Perry out of office to secure their constitutional right to an abortion. Oh, right, Egypt doesn't even have a legislature.
Back off Anderson.
Just 2 corrections
1. Morsi's video footage displayed by Jazeera today is a the rehearsal speech of that he made yesterday on national TV. You can check that with any of your translator. Also he refered to the DA court ruling TODAYsnd that was ruled yesterday
2. There is no arrest for 300 MB officials but there are 32 MB officials wanted for the prison break case being investigated amongst the the president. Plus it's not arrest it's no travel limiting
What is wrong with these people?? Don't they understand that the foundation of democracy is the requirement to live with your bad choices for the next four years, at which point you will be allowed to choose a different, but equally poor leader. Don't look now, but all the knights in shining armor left the battlefield long ago.

Why isn't Anderson back in Cairo to report on these nationwide protests in Egypt, where the latest man seeking dictatorial powers gets the boot? The people of Egypt do not want a Muslim theocracy.
