The only thing that upsets me is the wedding reception for her brother. That's more than just using an offensive word amongst friends. I don't know how with all of the people around her no one thought to say that that display would give the appearance of racism even if that was not the intent. I think she lacks awareness of cultural sensitivities and that can be fixed. I'm black and I forgive her for her exceptional poor judgment. All of us fall short of God's expectations of us from time to time.

I'm 70 from the south. We all used the :"n" word. (sorry) They(the blacks) used:Soda Cracker, is that no longer appropriate:?
Move On America. I love the butter in her recipes! Paula is a true Southern Belle with a Heart of Gold for Both BlacK and White/Red. Share the Fried Chicken and Livers too!

Paula Deen is from a culture of the pass South in the United States. Her age made her think it was acceptable to continue a trend that no longer exists in our society; to oppress the downtrodden. Maybe in she and her brother's life, a parent or relative taught them that saying the "N" word was acceptable BUT common sense, which some people lack, should have told her that she had gotten too "BIG" professionally to let things slide in that direction. I as a viewer forgive her; but like my grandma said, "Your mouth will get you in trouble."

Bravo to Food Network for chopping Paula Dean! N-words in white coats serving as slaves at her brother's wedding reception?! An apology won't cut it. Next, she'll want to be buried with the slaves, like Dog The Bounty Hunter.

Paula Deen is not a racist. What is happening in America? This woman has worked hard her entire life for the success she has achieved and now it can be taken away so quickly over repeating the N-word in jokes. A word that Blacks call each other all the time. A word that is freely used daily by Blacks in music, by comediennes, in movies, and yes in private conversations by people (yes even Northerners) who would not want anyone to know they would do such a thing. What's next. This is not right. It is not the word that makes you a racist. I read the deposition and she was not even part of the operations of the restaurant mentioned in the lawsuit. She was always away making a living and doing her job. Food Network needs to reexamine their decision and support her or is this just an excuse to get rid of her for some other reason. She is not a racist and I believe Food Network will suffer BECAUSE they let her go. I loved Food Network and now I have a sick feeling in my stomach....unbelievable.

saw your show and I was really upset. I am a stepfather of two black daughters and I talked to them about the raciel thoughts of others. I did this because I am white and my family is white. their mother is white and their father is black my family had never had anybody of color in my family, and I would say maybe . the reason why we all get together ok is because my family was told that we judge everyone by what we doo not by our color. my family has accepted my daughters without any question...this is because our society has changed amazingly since I was a boy. I don't think you can change society and their toughts on race without giving people a chance to make mistakes from the past!!!!!! it is a serious problem but I know my two daughters would not want paula to have any suffering..they really enjoy her
