David Mattingly reports on the events that have unfolded in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin and the subsequent trial of George Zimmerman, who is charged with second-degree murder. The 17-year-old was killed in Sanford, Florida in February 2012.
Jury selection begins in a few weeks and the men and women selected must decide if the incident was self-defense, as Zimmerman claims, or murder. But there is currently a dispute about photos of Martin and text messages sent from the teen's cell phone the day he was killed. The prosecutor doesn't want jurors to see them, but the defense argues the texts indicate Martin's demeanor before the conflict with Zimmerman.
