Amanda Berry's aunt never gave up hope

Gale Mitchell says she and her daughter prayed that Amanda Berry was still alive after the teen disappeared in 2003. "I just can't get over it," Mitchell tells Anderson Cooper about Berry's freedom from captivity. "My daughter just had a feeling she was still alive. So did I. You don't give up hope."

Berry and two other women, Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus, had been missing for years. They were found together in a Cleveland home on Monday.

A neighbor named Charles Ramsey heard Berry's cries for help and set her free from the house. Ramsey says he never suspected anything suspicious and was shocked to learn what was happening behind closed doors.

In Berry's 911 call, she begs for help before her captor returns. She tells the dispatcher, "Help me! I'm Amanda Berry … I've been kidnapped and I've been missing for 10 years and I'm here. I'm free now … Are they on their way right now? … I need them now before he gets back."

A 52-year-old man has been arrested. Two others, identified as his brothers, are also suspects, according to Deputy Police Chief Ed Tomba.

Contradictory reports between Mr. Ramsey and the Hispanic gentleman on last night's AC 360 who did not speak English but indicated he rescued Berry by kicking in the door and freed her and the child further muddied the waters about what actually happened. Ramsey made a 911 call. So who is this other reluctant hero and where has he been for the past three days? Furthermore, his account last night really contradicts Mr. Ramsey's viral report in numerous ways:Ramsey recounted how Berry was distressed and frantic even to get free, but well nourished and even appeared to have some degree of makeup on which seemed odd with a tshirt/ wifebeater on which is consistent with the facebook image of the hospital photo of her with her alongside her sister with her daughter. Ramsey mentioned a child emerging from the house shortly after Berry. The Hispanic gentleman mentions Berry going back for her daughter as an afterthought and that the child is a 6 yr old in a diaper and was soiled and unkept. What gives?

I have seen the clip of the Montel Show where Sylvia Brown spoke about this case to the mother....She NEVER said that the girl was dead(unless it was a different part of the show) but she did say that she would see her again *In Heaven*.... Well Sylvia WAS right, The mother has passed away before Miss Berry was found

What a tragic and sweet with the taste! I am so glad they have found their way out. I don't know how these men have kept them this long? I hope they gave them life in jail and no chance to get out.

I find this dramatic news distressing for humanity, and looking closer, discover that there are over 760,000 Missing persons registered in the USA last year! So 3 of them have taken 10 years to cry 'help' living in a house surrounded by other houses – it is all pathetically insane and a poor reflection of a 'crummy' neighbourhood in a country that continually thrives on mass hysteria, reporting incidents that continually throw an ugly light on the USA. The World is getting more and more perplexed by this domestic insanity and violence, and repeated public killings of more and more ordinary people. Hello USA – stop crumbling into oblivion and show us your 'good side'...I assume you still have one?

RE: THE MEN WHO KIDNAPPED THREE GIRLS: I noticed that a Puerto Rican flag hung over the door of the home where the girls were held captive and heard a Puerto Rican accent when the Uncle of those twisted beasts was interviewed. I wonder if they have a similarly undetected criminal history in PR as well? I hope that the police and press investigate that detail as well. I doubt that this was their first similar act.

We lived right next door to Cameron Hooker, In Red Bluff Californai....Our back yards attached....He kept a sex slave he and his wife picked up hitchiking in the mountains.....They kept her under their bed for years....This girl was brain washed to believe ALL the people living around then were part of the plot....He convienced her it was a cult....and we were all apart of this scheme....She was there for years....but the thing to understand is that these girls can not escape...they use everthing in their power to control them...abuse...threats of killing family members...ANYTHING......I used to talk to her in the back yard while she was doing laundry.....Never did we know there was anything wrong....so so terribly sad....

I'm glad the women were found. It's a shame what happened to them. The men will be punished and they are alive. I pray the women can have a decent life from here on.

So very happy for the young women and child and/or children and their families. God bless them in the days, months and years to come. Thank God for people like their Hero, Charles Ramsey for helping the young ladies.

How ironic that Ariel Casto's last Face Book post on May 2, 2013 is:

    Ariel Castro shared a status.

That dispatcher was horrible! "I said they're on their way, okay." Unbelievable.

I can't believe the dispatcher actually disconnected with Amanda before the police arrived. How cold...couldn't she hear the pour woman's desperation. That dispatcher needs some additional training. Thank God for the neighbors who helped her.
