Although I dont agree with homosexuality, it doesn't give me the right to discriminate against a person who chooses to be gay. I believe in human rights for everyone, because myself iam a visible minority. I applaud Brendan for standing for a cause in which he believes.
Those players all relatively unrecognizable and unknown. i pray it doesn't happen.
It will never help sports in general or otherwise. A small mind has nothing to do with it.
We as a society spend to much time labeling everything. We always have to be recognized for something. Each group wants to be publicly recognized. The major problem with all of this is it creates division rather than unity. Now, I happen to be a straight white male. However, if I were to ask for a recognition day for any of those things, I would be in danger walking down the street. Remember, United We Stand, Divided We Fall.

I know Brett Favre did.
There already have been FIVE former NFL players that have come out. David Kopay, Roy Simmons, Esera Tuaolo, Wade Davis and Kwame Harris. There have also been former NBA players like John Amachi and MLBers like Billy Bean that have come out publically as well. I hope it happens and it will be great.
I believe this will not only help the people who are publicaly coming out about thier sexual orientation. But sports in general. Im sure many young adults who want to play sports, proff or not, will also benifit from players talking publically. If you can be who you are, you will thrieve that much more in every way of life. Dont let small mindness out weigh the importace of who you are and the impact you have on the next generation.
