James Usera describes why Christopher Dorner was well-liked and earned respect from peers when they were college friends at Southern Utah University. He also tells Anderson Cooper why the news about Dorner is so shocking.
"It's indescribable, the sort of emotional roller coaster I've been through the past few days and trying to come to terms with everything that's going on," Usera says about allegations against Dorner and the possibility that the former LAPD officer died in a cabin fire during a standoff with police.
"Chris was a guy who was approachable, had a great sense of humor, fun to be around, intelligent, good conversationalist," says Usera. "The kind of guy most people would want to hang out with and spend time with."
"One of the things about Chris Dorner that I always respected was that he was a person of conviction...I do generally respect that trait, but I think it may be one of the things that brought about his demise in this case," Usera added.

Why are so many people defending this guy. He murdered innocent lives and the family members of these officers. I dont care what they did to Mr. Dorner. His actions were monstrous.
i don't believe or am convinced that christopher dorner has lied about his superiors. LAPD is well known for corruption and brutality. if Chris told his superiors about what happened and they fired him because of that, then there is a coverup going on.
let the public know the truth.
Does anyone else think that couple were not exactly telling the truth! I thought either their cleaning crew are either undocumented or they want to get the publicity themselves and they are the bosses so.....Just didnt seem right to me their stories, the 15 minutes, their explanation on his mood and affect...something is just not kosher.....
On your show tonight, please discuss how Dorner was able to get these weapons that were used, as was partially described by him in his 11 page "manifesto" that was left behind.
I have personal experience from friends and family that police do not turn each other in!! We had cops come and tell me I know your son didn't do anything but there are other cops that will go after marijuana like it is prohibition. Lie, cheat, corrupt cops that will stop other cops from telling. I believe this man was right. I saw it first hand, filed numerous complaints for first hand cop tactics against my family all found to be not true. But they were true, and all the cops are still cops. My son cant get a job because of their lies. I was working from home, my son was home alot, he was disabled, cops fed on him like he was food!! They charged him, convicted him with lies on the witness stand, he was disabled and 18 with his life ruined, cant get a job, life sucks, for all of us, me, my son, his grandma!! Believe me, I know this man's comments are true.
There is more to the Christopher Dorner story. The LAPD has a corrupt reputation and has kept people in fear . when a man finally confronts the department you see what happened. A decorated war veteran was driven to drastic measures because they LAPD cant be beat. Please address the issues of Dorners abuse allegation and also the truth about the way his supposed capture went down. How do we know the deputy that was killed was not shot by cross fire? Was there a SWAT team there or not? Why wasnt someone other than LAPD there to negotiate with Dorner. Please report all of the good this man did and his attempts to get someone to listen before he snapped. Thank you, Leslie Bratton
