Anderson, I want to thank you so much for bringing us the poignant stories of these victims. I have been glued to CNN since it happened & just can't imagine the grief these families are feeling. It is comforting to hear the stories from the families about there loved ones. I am grieving with you. I am also praying these weapons are banned soon. Just this weekend there is a gun show coming to York PA. I am so livid that this is able to go on, one short week after this tragedy. ALL GUN SHOWS & sales should be stopped in respect for these innocent souls. God Bless us All.
despite the NRA stance on the 2nd Amendment toward the rights to bear arms, I believe that it will be a long process to (since the Colombine School shooting) change our attitude toward assault weapons. Correct me if I'm wrong? wasn't there someone on CNN claimed that assault weapon was a fun weapon? my point is who the hell needs to own a assault weapon for what purpose??
With emotions running high in the last week regarding this terrible massacre of innocents, many suggestions have come to the table. I would like to offer mine. They have been three years in the making.
Sandy Hook solidified these ideas.
I would like to propose the following: A worldwide (yes worldwide) education reform plan based on Multiple Intelligence Theory, wrapped in the massive open online education (MOOC) platform.
Our schools are not safe. As a veteran urban educator, have witnessed violence many times. I have been maced three times. I have taken weapons off kids.
Perpetrators can get into a school through any means necessary. With hundreds of children moving in and out, with parents, community workers visiting, with all the many entrances and exits...it is impossible, I believe, to fully protect our kids.
In addition, the "enemy within" lurks. This is the enormous amount of bullying that occurs in our schools...or through cyberspace, then spilling into schools. I believe that a MOOC platform would enable kids to learn ...with the vital socialization occurring through the increasingly sophisticated software programs that MOOC’s provide.
Children could further have social opportunities through neighborhood groups, or through agencies that already exist like the Boy/Girl Scout, YMCA/YWCA, and special interest groups.
This is a controversial idea. It would change education forever. It would NOT eliminate “bricks and sticks” buildings. It would, however, give alternatives to keep our kids safe.

Anderson, thank you for the stories on the children and the adults who were murdered at Sandy Hook school....but most of all thank you for not giving the killer a face or name. He and others like him cannot win if the rest of the media will follow your lead and not give these killers air time. Stay well.
Banning the guns or magazines for them will not help. Only the honest will obey the law and the "shooters" will find them illegally. The answer is to stop manufacturing them. I will take a while to get them out of circulation but there should be fewer every year if they are destroyed whenever the authorities confiscate them.
My heart hurts for the family of all the victims of the CT tragedy.....those little Angels and their teachers. However, I think it's unfair that most people are excluding Nancy Lanza the CT shooter's mother from Memorializing her....after all, she is also a victim! It's very horrible what her son has done to her, those innocent Angels and their teachers, but I believe leaving HER out of memorials In my opinion is NOT right.....just saying!
