Egypt's prime minister met with Hamas leaders on Friday in Gaza. However, the Egyptian Cabinet chief noted that Egypt maintains the
Camp David peace accords treaty with Israel.
CNN's Reza Sayah reporting from Cairo tells Anderson "It’s impossible to say what Egypt's role is right now."
Reza says, "If you look carefully, there's not much happening beyond the rhetoric...they certainly haven't taken up arms against Israel, doesn't look like they are providing material support to Hamas."
Sr. Fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution, Fouad Ajami, tells Anderson "The Arab world is not really going to march to the tune of Hamas" Fouad notes, "In the end, the Egyptians have fought four wars with Israel and the harvest has been catastrophe, they don't want to go back to the past"
