It's me again. I'm still bothered by he kitty being stuffed into a bag to be taken somewhere and "rescued". How is it determined which animals are abandoned? Are they sure owners aren't coming to feed them or look for them? Isn't it theft? There were lots of such problems during Katrina. I hope it's not starting in NY. Please Please highlight the reputable local efforts. Thanks.

I saw your reporting on volunteers from Deroit Dog Rescue. While any effort is to be appreciated, I am from the Detroit area and there is a lot of controversy about this group. I would prefer to see something about the heroic efforts of the local shelters and rescues – and those of the American Kennel Club and Eukanuba. Huge of amounts of financial support, food, blankets and other support are being supplied by these groups.
