Former CIA officer Bob Baer tells Anderson Cooper that intervening in the Syria conflict would be dangerous, but it's riskier for the U.S. not to act. He believes it's time to take Bashar al-Assad out.
There are reports that some rebels have obtained heat-seeking shoulder-fired missiles to combat the government forces' powerful weaponry. Syrian activist Zaidoun says that's why the opposition is making progress in the north, while the factions in the south are struggling with basic equipment.
The U.S. is concerned that weapons smuggled into the country will fall into the hands of extremists. Zaidoun agrees that the combination of violence from the regime and the word's reluctance to get involved have created an opportunity for extremists to enter the country.
