Carville: Best day Romney's had all month

Mary Matalin and James Carville debate the timing of Mitt Romney's 2011 tax return release. Documents show the presidential candidate made $13.7 million last year and paid $1.94 million in federal income taxes, giving him an effective tax rate of 14.1%.

    Wrong again, Mary. The 16% he paid to "charity" was the tithe to Mormon Church. The Mormon Church keeps it's finances secret too.

    ...and as far as contributing milions to charity, he got to decide which charities were 'worthy' enough for his money. The 'young, black, pregnant with no college fund' didn't make his cut. The rich donate soooo much.... yea, but it's delivered to those in need whom they deem worthy.

    Mary Matlin was wrong... she said the tax return was completed... but the tax return was submitted as work in progress.

    Romney did what most taxpers do, is utilize what ever is authorized by the IRS, whether it is donations or deductions. The only difference is the amount of money earned, and whether it was by interest or wages. I like all the members on the Hill show us every two years, what they paid in taxes and include members of the Presidents closest friends in the White House.

      Romney did not do what most taxpayers would do because most would have taken all available deductions at their disposal, not claim only a portion of charitable contributions to make it look like he paid a higher rate. What are the odds that he won't go back and claim the remainder of that deduction once the election is over? Zero!

    How come the media makes a man who gives millions such a terrible man-I noticed he gave much money to Mormon rehabs-because of Romney, less drunk drivers are out there.
    I wish the media would let us know to what other organizations he gave to but oh no-according to the liberal press this man is a dirty dog.
    By the way, if Romney having his dog on top of the car is so in humane how come so many pick up drivers have their dogs in the back of the truck-an animal lover knows that dogs love to be out in the wind and weather.

      first of all – there is a huge difference between letting a dog run around in the back of a truck and strapping a dogs carrier to the roof of the car. do i even need to go into all the reasons why? or can i simply point out that aside from romney, i have never ever heard of anyone doing that to their dog. not only that, but him laughing about the dog messing himself because he was so terrified should be a clue right there to the mans lack of empathy.

      as for his millions – just because you made millions doesnt make you a good, successful person. there are plenty of millionaires who have lied, cheated, broke laws or even killed people to get there. take the pablo escobars of the world – they've made millions running successful drug operations. should we look up to them? bain capital got bailed out by the us gov, and made tons of money breaking up businesses, laying off workers and sending jobs overseas. so no, romney's 'success' does not impress me. and so what if he gave to charitable organizations – he got a tax break. shoot, he probably pays a smaller percentage of his income to taxes than most people i know.
