The reaction by the mainstream media, I exclude Fox, is exactly what the Right Wingers use as an example of media bias. His performance was simply entertainment! Those of you in the media who think Eastwood's performance was detrimental to Gov Romney have been in the media "circle" too long and miss the point. The average American does not view the conventions as you do. The average American made "Reality" TV popular for over 15 years.
Anderson, I genuinely respect your liberal but objective journalistic stance most of the time. For this Clint Eastwood matter however, I am quite sure that Clint doesn't give a sheet what you or the likes of Gloria Borger, or the rest of Hollywood thinks of his views or his performance last night, and you know what,....I don't either. Thanks to Clint for standing up for what needs to be said, and not falling into lockstep with Hollywood and the left leaning media sycophants.
Clint Eastwood looked like he was trying to do the old Bob Newhart telephone bit except is wasn't that funny.
If I am elected President of these United States, I will work with all my energy and soul to restore that America to the bankers and the 1% Im packing and moving to the UK if Romney and co get in Ive lived and work in America for 20 years Im a brit. but the republican party are acting like the brown shirts of old with there Racism, Lie's and Hate.
How many ways can one say, "mistake"?
Republican convention went off the rails with this one.
Is this a taste of what Republican good judgment looks like?
What the hell were they thinking?
This was the last night of the Republican convention.
And we are given this?
I love Clint Eastwood.
But only managed to feel sorry for him.
And to feel sorry for the poor bozo who talked the convention committee into this stunt.
I too am an Obama girl.....this performance by Clint Eastwood was a bunch of crap. Is this what prime TV is all about or is what the RNC is all about? Come on.....I'm from the south and I am very disappointed at all the Republicans in this area and what they are believing in. There is no one platform that I see they are trying to present. I'm writing as a disappointed SOUTHERN!
The people who criticize Clint Eastwood's @ RNC are missing the point. He was old (earned it), cool (as always), strange, funny, AND SO RIGHT ON THE POINT. I'm an Obama girl, but I love Clint Eastwood and so does every body else. His work speaks volumes, we respect him. So if he wants to present an unusual, unexpected, understated, ORIGINAL performance in the midst of pomp, circumstance and political blah blah blah - I'm glad I was watching it live. Also, I have not heard ANYONE put President Barach Obama in his place quite so effectively, with relevant and current references to situations and events that we've all lived thru together. You had to agree with him. He nailed it. He spoke. He was real. If you didn't get it, it's your loss.
I totally agree. I never heard anyone on the left say anything about Michael Moore talking about George Bush, or Dave Letterman, or so many more. Clint Eastwood was right on the mark! President Obama has done nothing that he promised us to do. I will be voting for Romney this time!
