I find the amount of money raised and spent on this election is "obscene" during a time when most Americans are suffering and struggling through the Great Recession/Depression. I think that the candidate that donates this excessive money to necessary causes in America, might have this election. Why can they not donate these funds to the poor, the homeless, the medically ill who cannot afford health services? There are so many places that this "surplus" money could help average Americans, that spending it strictly on this long-drawn out election campaign is just pure waste and disgusting. Sadly, this same fundraising for elections is creeping into Canadian elections but I hope we can nip it in the bud and keep it under $100,000 per candidate because money should not determine who is the best leader. I hope we keep the campaigning short as they currently are. The whole American election process needs to evolve into the current century....it's just too long...and too expensive.
