'Miracle' stories of survival in Aurora
CNN's Randi Kaye tells the story of survivors who lived through the gunfire in the Aurora, Colorado, movie theater.

Stephanie Davies helped save the life of her friend Allie Young who was shot in the neck. Stephanie didn't leave Allie to find safety, she stayed with her and applied pressure to her wound. Then, she carried her friend across two parking lots to an ambulance.
Petra Anderson was hit four times, with one bullet entering her brain. The 22-year-old was probably saved by a rare birth defect - a fluid-filled channel in her brain that maneuvered the bullet. Her family is struggling with paying for her medical bills along with those of her mother who is battling terminal breast cancer. When something this horrible happens to innocent people why do they always have to think about how they are going to pay for this tragedy? I think they have enough obstacles to overcome with getting physically and mentally healthy that the individuals should not have to worry about money for awhile. I am not sure on the best way to solve the issue but feel it is unfair to place the burden on the individuals and the families.
Lauri Albert: You are so very correct and I completely agree with you! Money is the LAST thing these survivors should have to be worrying about in their recovery! But sadly, that is not the way things are in this country or world. I wish that it were! I hope and pray that anyone who can afford to will come forward to help all of these innocent victims to not have to worry about their medical bills. The insurance companies and Hospitals should do that as well! Thank you for your great comment!
I thought the local emergency room was FREE for anyone who could not afford to pay? This is the current Republican plan to solve the health care needs of Americans.
Capitalist..No they have to treat you even if you can't afford it, but two weeks later they are calling wanting their money.
Have been listening to victims now asking for donations to pay medical bills. I thought everyone was covered now. I am Canadian and these victims would not have to stoop to begging here. Still can't fathom why Americans find our health care a bad thing.

Kudos for Anderson Cooper for focusing on the victims in Aurora rather than the psycopath!! Not using his name on the air was a great tribute to those killed. I hope it is a small example to other news journalists.
Janice Manfredi (Cool name, BTW!): You are so right about dear Anderson Cooper! Thus far, he is the ONLY Journalist I have seen that is respecting the wishes of the survivors and setting a wonderful example by focusing his attention, support, love and care on the victims rather than the perpetrator! I think CNN is trying to follow his example to some degree, thanks to precious and sincere Anderson Cooper! One can tell in his interviews that he truly and actually does care, which is so rare in the media.
