Scientology star power

Tom Cruise is one of Scientology's most high profile members. CNN's Kareen Wynter takes a look at whether the pursuit of major celebrities has helped or hurt the church.

    Shannon is obviously a scientologist.

I pity tom. He is being used and manipulated and controlled. I don't hate him, I feel sorry for him. If he tries to leave that 'religion' (sci-fi story), they will make his life hell for years to come. He is trapped, and losing family after family. He just gets more outrageous. It's now known talking about trauma causes more ptsd, yet that's what auditing is. He is traumatizing himself and... Poor man. Totally duped.

I found this article online about the late Christopher Reeve and Scientology from Readers Digest:

Superman Christopher Reeve and, despite the fact that he is confined to a wheelchair, he is still is a super man, has been in Australia promoting research into treatment of spinal cord injuries has also been in the news in the US.

Christopher has hit out at Scientology, telling how he opted out of becoming a member because he was "skeptical" about its claims. The enormously wealthy organisation has superb PR machine that goes into high gear when any criticism arise but, it seems Christopher's blast, was totally unexpected.

He also talked about how he had fooled the so-called E-Meter, a machine that is supposed to detect lies or hidden agendas.

While no comments have been forthcoming from ardent Scientologists Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Juliette Lewis and other high-profile Hollywood adherents, it seems that Chris's words were music to the ears of investigators working with cultnews.com – a group that investigates claims made by the organisation.

i think tom cruise is a good actor, and should not be judged by his religion.i think freedom of speech and freedom of religion should reflect how far his words and religion has been judged by the main stream of bible beating preachers spreading hate of any other religion.good luck tom,i understand what it is like to be hated by chruch members who should love their brother and enemy, and judge not, lest they be judged by their own judgement.shannon
