The AC360 Weekly Buzz: Wisconsin recall, electric shocks for students, Sandusky jurors, security leak, al-Libi, Amanda Bynes, Anderson's birthday

What everyone’s talking about:

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker survived Tuesday’s recall election sparked by Walker’s decision last year to cut union rights and benefits in the midst of a state budget crisis. But his victory leaves many asking if money from donors outside the state influenced the race. Anderson spoke with CNN’s John King, Republican Consultant Alex Castellanos and Bill Burton, the former White House Deputy Press Secretary for President Obama, about what the recall vote could mean for the November general election.

We’ve been reporting on a Massachusetts school that uses electric shocks to try to control the behavior of special needs students. The Judge Rotenberg Center claims “aversive therapy” is successful and spares students from debilitating medications. As calls to ban the practice grow, questions remain about the FDA’s stance on the device the school uses to deliver the shocks. We’re Keeping Them Honest.

A U.S. drone strike killed Al Qaeda’s second-in-command, Abu Yahya al-Libi, in Pakistan. The White House says his death was a “serious blow” to the terrorist group. Anderson spoke with the former Deputy Chief of the CIA’s Counterterrorism Center, Henry Crumpton, who says al-Qaeda may never recover.

Jurors were selected for the trial of former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky. He’s facing 52 charges of sex abuse. The judge denied requests to keep the identities of the alleged victims anonymous when they testify. A surprise to our legal experts was the makeup of the jury–those with connections to Penn State were not automatically disqualified from serving.

Senator John McCain is alleging that the Obama administration leaked counterterrorism secrets online to bolster the president’s foreign policy credentials. He has a lot of bipartisan support from lawmakers. Some are joining McCain in his calls for a special investigator. Anderson talks to McCain about his claims.

The FBI is searching for the man who took Osama bin Laden’s place on the Top 10 Most Wanted list. They’ve been chasing dangerous child predator Eric Toth for four years. We’ll report on the case and the hunt for the former teacher.
