Reporter's Note: President Obama gets a letter from me every day, whether he wants to or not.
Dear Mr. President,
How it happened, I almost don’t know, but today turned into a barnburner! Seemed like I had just one item after another on my agenda and every time I turned around, something else was coming up. Go figure. I was, btw, in the park across from the White House around 2 in the afternoon. Was that you waving to me from the window? I couldn’t tell in all that sunlight, but I wondered. Next time, give me a call and I’ll come over. I would have this time, but the Secret Service gets testy about such things and they’re not in the best of moods these days, as you might expect. And with the investigation into their not so secret activities expanding, that situation probably won’t improve soon.
I was rather surprised to find that the weekend forecast is for rain. We’ve had such nice weather lately I just assumed that the weekend would be all picnics and walks in the woods, but apparently not. Maybe we’ll go check out a movie, although to be honest, I have no idea what is in the theaters right now. Last thing I heard about was The Hunger Games, which seems kind of like Mad Max meets Mean Girls, and I’m not in the mood for that.
Speaking of moods, I noticed a poll that indicates people in the country as feeling slightly more positive about the state of things…or at least the direction we are headed. It is not much of an improvement and most folks think our situation is still rather dismal, but any movement in a positive direction has to be encouraging to your re-election team, because heaven knows you have enough bad news to work with.
Gracious. I’m all over the map today. Seems like I’ve rattled on about everything including the kitchen sink. Perhaps it is best that I just pack up and call it a day. If we decide to go to a movie, I’ll give you a buzz and you and Michelle can come along if you wish. For now, adios…enjoy the weekend.
Regards,
Tom
