Editor's note: In an exclusive interview, Anderson Cooper speaks with Hal Uhrig and Craig Sonner about the Trayvon Martin case, and why they no longer represent the shooter, George Zimmerman. Tune in to AC360° at 8 and 10 p.m. ET tonight.
Attorneys for neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, who authorities say fatally shot an unarmed teenager in Florida, said Tuesday they have lost contact with their client and will no longer represent him.
"He has gone on his own. I'm not sure what he's doing or who he's talking to," said legal adviser Craig Sonner. "If he wants us to come back as counsel, he will contact us."
Sonner, who said the last time they had contact with Zimmerman was Sunday, spoke to reporters in Florida with attorney Hal Uhrig.
Uhrig said Zimmerman contacted the office of the special prosecutor appointed to lead the investigation on his own.

Anderson, Angela Corey (Jax. St.Prosecutor) made her announcement about info coming out in 72 hrs on local T.V. well before the resignation announcement by Zimmerman's attorneys. What happened to people being innocent until convicted in a court of law? I was not there and I cannot judge. why are so many rushing to judgement?
I can't begin to express my disappointment at these "attorneys". They have completely embarrassed the profession and should be disbarred for their noisy withdrawal. Shame, shame.
Even IF an actual psychological professional diagnoses him with PTSD, aren't the lawyers suggesting that he developed PTSD in response to the shooting? He did not have PTSD at the time of the shooting, thus this can not be used as a defense.
How can Zimmerman's previous lawyers say he might have PTSD when they haven't ment him. Phone conversations doesnt make a diagnoses.
An unfamiliar man of any color in a hoodie walking across my neighbors lawn late at night would make me suspicious
Did it ever occur to you or anyone else that this is a ploy used by his lawyers to begin a defense of mental instability? They may be in contact with him and this may be their attempt to build their defense case.
Simply put NO.Cathy that sounds as bad as all the other speculation.Besides why would he need any defense other then self defense, he has an eye witnesses putting him on the bottom calling for help there is no proof to dispute his claim that he was attacked while he was on his way back to his truck with the evidence that we have it look's like Z doesn't need any other defense. The key piece of evidence will be the ballistics.
Yep that's a smart way to go about it ....and very predictable....just like its predictable that Angela Corey is being overly thorough on the arrest ....in order to divert the attention off her friends Norm and Bill for their actions and inactions. To make it seem like they initially didn't have enough for a simple arrest on suspicion..as recommended by an experienced detective. She has been appointed with the daunting task of convicting Zimmerman with out exposing the cover up. She won't be able to fry Zimmerman without frying Sanford police and Norm Wolfinger....as the defense will claim they did everything right when they didn't arrest him.
