Hey Jeffery! Lay off the Mike & Ike's! they're one of my favorites. I'm the one who's buying them and I think I'm the sole reason they're still around. As far as the popcorn overcharge, well, theaters can lower the price of concessions but then they would have to raise the price of admission. I like having the option of paying less to get in and if I can afford it, buy some super-expensive treats. Why is nobody complaining about paying $5 for a beer at Applebee's when we all know we can walk around the corner to a grocery story and get 6 for that same $5. Of course, smuggling them in to a restaurant may be more difficult. I suggest you pour it in a glass then slowly walk in to the establishment backwards. As soon as they see you near the door with an open container they're grab you by the collar and tell you to get back in side with the open container. And you're in with your cheap beer!
weird story! I worked at a concessions in a movie theatre and nobody complained about the price of candy drinks and popcorn. It was a special occasion out and most people plan on either spending the money or smuggling candy in. Nobody gets out a flash light hunting down people for smuggled candy! If that happens, they there is something terribly wrong going on in this country!
Many theaters don't even pop their own popcorn anymore. They bring it in in giant clear garbage bags and dump it in the popcorn bin. My loal theater has a Starbucks inside and a 2% carmel machiato is the only thing I buy.
The cost of snacks at the theatres are so costly. I think that guy suing the theatre won't win his lawsuit either. It sure is funny that he is suing and thinking he many win. 🙂
I remember Mike & Ike candy. They are similar to Good and Plenty, remember them? 🙂 The Mike and Ikes are fruit flavored inside with a fruit coating on the outside, and Good and Plenty are licorice flavored inside.
