Shutters are very important, if you don't have it and the glass brake the wind come right inside the house you have no chance of survive. It is imperative you put the shutters outside. The house must be built in a strong way less nails more bolts, the lateral force of the wind must be stopped out side cables must be installed holding the house ridge down to the ground . The ridge must be of size 6inches square , what hold the ridge should be bigger in proportion . once the house start to get old the nails are good for nothing.
The USA must build in a different way all residential, must tear off all the building in a small scale, rebuilt it less spread. The window need to be smaller, the roof need to be stronger, start to make roof with concrete, the houses must have shutters outside same way they do in Italy. Too much lumber is used when they build a house. It seems to me too much lateral movement are against the house. The top part of the house should have cables holding the roof down in different direction. It is very sad to see in TV such misery every time we have Tornados.
When rebuilding things like schools and police stations, are underground parking lots a possibility?
