We cannot tell Isreal what to do but I think we should not support any attack on Iran for whatever reason. Isreal expects our support on everything they do but when we advise them not to do something, they do what they want anyway and more or less thumb their noses at us. The U.N. should take the information from Leon Penetta and be the one telling Isreal
what they think would be the right thing to do.

Given the looming elections in the US and Israel's concerns about Obama's blank check support for Israel, it seems clear that Israel is trying to force all US politicians to take a stance in support of Israel given the strong sentiments that the issues elicits in the American public. It seems clear that this factor figures into the "window" of opportunity that may be slipping away – for better, for worse.

I just want to remind you Anderson, that American Jews are also extermely worried.
In 1942, Jewish leaders came to Churchill and Roosevelt and begged them to bomb the Gas chambers in Poland and Germany. The answer was negative – it would impede the general war effort.
Today, Paneta and people on your program expressed concerns that an Israeli pre-emptive attack would hurt U.S. interests and arise the price of oil.
They are forgetting the fact that again, the lives of 6 million Jews are at stake. The Mulahs made it clear that they want to exterminate Israel, and they are very serious. The scenario of lobbing a few nuclear bombs into Israel and then, letting hundreds of thousands of the Hizbala, the Chamas, and the PLO, go on a rape, loot and kill orgy inside Israel is very realistic. And that means a second Holocust Museum in Washington DC.

I noted Fran Townsend state with assurance that Hezbollah and Iran were behind the marines barracks bombings – to support the narrative she was making. However, to best of my knowledge Hezbollah was only established in 1984 to 1985. So some other group had to be associated with the bombing – probably islamic jihad. In regards Irans involvement one should not forget that the US mariens were part of a multinational peacekeeping force, and the french component barracks were hit as well with significant death. The multinational force had become, in Lebanon, seen to be aligned with the maronites ( ie: taking sides ). In addition the US had bombarded the Shouf mountain area and killed innnocent civilians ( Druze I believe ). As such we were not seen to be impartial but to be partial. In my opinion that made us targets – not anything done by Iran. It would be nice if Anderson Cooper, or other journalists, challenged individual 'experts' on their 'facts'. If such is not done it can play into the fearmongering/propagandizing that lead up to the Iraq war – only this time with even worse consequences.
