Video: Is Gulf seafood unsafe to eat?

There are questions about the safety of seafood in the Gulf following the BP oil disaster. Gary Tuchman reports.

    So the shrimp in the Gulf has become the proverbial "canary in the coal mine" as evidence of the ecological disaster from the BP oil spill??? If anyone thinks this is evidence as the sole cause for low shrimp numbers, then what about the devasting drought throughout the entire state of Texas which has virtually eliminated the normal and natural flow of freshwater into the gulf for over a year? Come on let's see some rational thoughts and reporting about low shrimp numbers in the Gulf rather than simply shouting the "sky is falling" and the Gulf has beomce some kind of toxic soup. It is this kind of hyper-emotional comments that give credence to those who view environmentalists as extremists and simply acting on feelings rather the firing of synapses between nuerons.

    I have an anti-immune disease and would not even think of eating Gulf Seafood. The dispersant is the reason! I eat out quite a bit and most restaurants have only Gulf Seafood and seafood from foreign ports. Which is worse? The filthy, unregulated seafood from Asia or the oil and dispersant laden seafood from the Gulf Coast. Do you for any minute think I believe any of our elected officials when they claim the seafood is safe? No way! How much are they receiving from the big oil companies to keep their jobs? From NOAA, our governor, USCG, DMR, DEQ and the list goes on; I don't believe the first one. When the oil was coming ashore, our Lt Governor claimed we were smelling our lawnmower gas. And recently Mississippians elected him as our next governor. Now, you can understand why Mississippi is labeled number 50 in most subjects.

    This report should be an embarrassment to everyone involved in it. The FDA, the EPA, the CDC, the NIH, and the Coast Guard have played with the numbers on this disaster since it started. The disaster in the Gulf of Mexico is UNPRECEDENTED and on a scale which has no yardstick! The ramifications of the spraying of COREXIT will go on for decades. The ecology of the Gulf of Mexico has been damaged to it's core. Shame on you CNN. We used to trust you Anderson, but you have lost your nerve. One day the truth about what has happened in the Gulf will come out, and after seeing this report I am sure it won't be coming from CNN.
