Exploiting these wild animals is cruel, barbaric, inhumane, and should cease totally. It is pitiful to capture wild, free animals just to make money while teaching watchers – often mostly children – that animals are here for our amusement.
Dolphin, whales must indeed be driven mad by such captivity. While human death is tragic, it is understandable when caused by mistreatment: such captivity amounts to abuse.
Please, no more captive sea creatures, no more exploitation.
Thanks to Anderson Cooper and CNN for this report. Orcas do not belong in captivity, no wild animal does.
If you want to see an Orca, go to the Seattle area and take a ferry.
The very idea that "Killer" whales are safe is ludicrous. They are beautiful creatures who belong in the open water as nature intended. "Training" wild animals to perform tricks for us is the heighth of human arrogance. I wouldn't step foot in Seaworld or a circus if my life depended on it. It's entertainment for the ignorant.
wild animals should not be in cages. i doubt the people who own sea world would want to live in a bath tub or a closet, or their car, or something even smaller. these whales live in the ocean. keep them there. stop exploiting other species for money.
Whales, like all other animals being exploited for money, should be put back where God intended them to be. They deserve the life they were intended to have. I am sick of the greed. It is so bad that these people that do this will lie about a death to keep their 'moneymakers'. Again.....put them back where God intended them to be and that is FREE
Heartfelt thanks go to Anderson Cooper for asking the question that needed to be asked - Should we be keeping these huge animals in tanks where they swim around in circles? Questions about animal rights, and the appropriate treatment of members of the other species with whom we share the planet need to be asked if humanity hopes to live up to its title and move towards being humane. Anderson Cooper is at the forefront of the trend to give these issues the mainstream media attention they deserve. Thank you Anderson, and the 360 team, for being leaders!
Great follow up on the Orca Attack and the unfortunate death of the trainer who was doing her passion. OSHA issues citations to employers 100% of the time whenever there is a fatality even if the employer has done everything to comply with safety and health standards and acts in good faith. Even if an employee has violated company policy and procedures and the law in addition to not doing what they have been trained to do. Is it right? That is a question that still remains to be answered.
