'Monster' Texas Wildfire: Join the Live Chat

A massive wildfire near Austin, Texas has burned 25,000 acres and destroyed 300 homes. The blaze is zero percent contained. We'll have a live report on the firefight. Plus, jobs were the big topic this Labor Day for Pres. Obama and the GOP presidential candidates. We'll talk it over with Democratic Strategist James Carville and Ari Fleischer, the former White House Press Secretary for President G.W. Bush. Find out why authorities in Aruba investigating the disappearance of American Robyn Gardner want to track down the people who drove a white car that was caught on surveillance video. And once again adding Gerard Depardieu to our RidicuList.

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

    September 5, 2011 at 8:29 pm |

I worry for your state. We, in NM were very, very dry is Spring and early Summer, but at least we are getting some rain.

I pray for rain to drench TX (no floods).

She should consider getting out of this race. She could easy hurt her chances of getting reelected for next term. If she hasn't already.

I'm glad Ed Rollins called in to clarify. I didn't know he had a stroke last year. This would be too much for him I'm sure.

the democrats should have "response debates" each time the republicans have one of these gop debates. i do not understand why they do not do the equivalent during these times, as the republicans and their various flavors of talking points get a lot of publicity. the democrats could easily up their profile by providing counter-points periodically, don't you think?

    September 5, 2011 at 8:11 pm |
    • Starr, formerly know as vincent

I think the Dems are waiting until the Replican field gets down to just a couple of candidates. At that time, the debates and the upcoming election will be taken more seriously and debated.

However, you could have a good point.

      September 5, 2011 at 8:15 pm |
      • lisal -canada

yes starr, vic – agree with all points made
just seems to me the republicans, as an entity, are more controlled at the macro level and use that to their advantage. just have always wondered why the dems do not do the same thing.

are there any democratic think-tanks? are those not the organizations that come up with these macro-micro strategies?

        September 5, 2011 at 8:29 pm |
    • vic , nashville ,tn

Republicans didn’t announce any major policy or alternative plan to improve economy just they are attacking Obama very soon voters will get tired of that
Better Democrats not response all these silly comments

      September 5, 2011 at 8:23 pm |
  31. Sharon Hastings

This Republican contest is kind of pitiful.

    September 5, 2011 at 8:09 pm |

I've not yet seen a Republican candidate that i am taken with. It is early and if Sarah Palin gets in, anything could happen!

Ooooh, I agree. I can't imagine a President Perry or a President Rick. I sure hope most people agree with me.

Hi BettyAnn. From what i have heard, his record as Gov. has Not been a good one. I guess since you live in TX, you would know.

          September 5, 2011 at 8:20 pm |
          • BettyAnn,TX

Perry really is a jerk! He lowered our TX education. Told the TX Highway Patrol he could drive as he liked ( there is a police tape of that) and he wanted TX to secede from the United States. Is he confused? So, now he wants to be president of the US? blahaha

            September 5, 2011 at 8:43 pm |
            • BettyAnn,TX

P.S. Texas has not had a great governor since Ann Richards! And that is the truth!

No offense to Mr. Rollins but he is 68. With 24 hour news cycle campaing manager has very hard job to do. She should have hired him at addvisory role from the start.

    September 5, 2011 at 8:07 pm |

I really respect Ed Rollins. I truly hope it is not his "health" that is an issue, Saray.
