Please, please. Yes, in Vermont we did lose a few quaint, historic covered bridges. However as I was driving my detour to work this morning, I was struck by all the media attention on our picture postcard bridges. I drove past a farmer who lost his livelihood; I passed a homeowner outside hosing down all of her belongings. I passed the foundation of a neighbor's house. Part of the house was in the tree across the street. Most of it was somewhere downstream. I felt guilt that I actually have a home, a car to drive, and a place to work. Covered bridges can be rebuilt. Have you forgotten the people's lives that are impacted?
