Gov. Perry v. President Obama: Join the Live Chat

Governor Rick Perry says he's a job creator and President Obama is a job destroyer.

Tough talk from the Texas Governor but is it based in fact?

Anderson, it is CNN's job to report the lies and inconsistent Perry statements. For example, the majority of new Texas jobs were non-military government jobs, stimulus money was used to help balance the Texas budget, 25 states have a lower unemployment rate, Texas has the most people without health insurance, Texas seems like it is becoming a third world state

Spiritual discipline shouldn't be defined as physical force.

Discipline the art of mastering ones self. It can not be imposed.

      August 17, 2011 at 8:51 pm |

Spiritual discipline - I've never heard of such foolishness!
That's why that guest said that the outside world doesn't understand, and would views it abuse.
Many of these "groups" seem to be hidden or keep to themselves; never associating with others.

That's not even how you train a dog or any animal successfully. All they learn is anger and fear.

      That's so true, Sharon!
They also learn not to trust, which can lead to even more issues later.
Very sad when it's your own parents, whom you fear, distrust, and are angry with.

That's what's so sad. They won't have any self-esteem, or confidence. Tragic all around.

Perry is starting to remind me of the 2nd George Bush with his big "Texas Talk"..... Scary.... Do we really want to go down that road again???

    August 17, 2011 at 8:26 pm |
    • Emily

I think that Perry is much worse that Bush! He makes Bush look more centric.
I'm seriously thinking that it's only a matter of time before the Republican Party spits into two.
Now that "The Tea Party" has a name, I think that it's not if, but when.

Wow!!!!!!!!! I am shocked Christine O'Donnell walk off on Piers Morgan tonight!!!!!!! No, Piers is not rude at all!!!

    August 17, 2011 at 8:24 pm |
    • Grant

Piers is smart funny, and usually very good at getting down to the basic issues at hand. It sounds like a light politician just embarrassed herself in front of a heavyweight interviewer.

      August 17, 2011 at 8:26 pm |
      • Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA

I agree with you, Grant!!!!!!!! 🙂

I wonder why Christine O'Donnell is even back now in the Media?

      August 17, 2011 at 8:34 pm |

        Emily,
Christine always avoid lot of Media includling Anderson......... She turned down for interview any media!!!!! She diased Piers as well.

        August 17, 2011 at 8:47 pm |

I thought the same thing. Can't believe she's still floating around.

        August 17, 2011 at 8:48 pm |
  23. lisal -canada

oh dear – personally i do not think piers was out of line – i think those questions were to be expected and (even if a person repeatedly does not answer the question/s) that type of response should just be a "press release" and not an interview, methinks

  24. Emily

For anyone to say something, like, "I don't know what y'all would do to him" ...when talking about The President of the United States of America. It reminds me of the same kind of (despicable) speech from terrorists. Everyone finds the 'right' behind their speech, and a reason to put down & really insult another person. (not speaking about their polices).

G.W Bush came up with idea “ No Child left behind” remember

Actually G.W.Bush was thinking about Rick Perry

It is ridiculous to credit Perry for job creation in Texas. Is this a governor-level thing, or President-level? Since Texas is part of the US, Pres. Obama must also be due half the bragging rights along with Perry for the job situation in Texas. If Perry gets all the glory, then all the other governors are to blame for the horrible jobs picture in other states, not Obama. You can't have it both ways. Let's see Perry work his magic in Michigan, then maybe I'll buy it.

That stage collapsing at the Indiana State Fair is truly tragic!
Is that a State Fair where they re-erect the stage every year, or is it one that stays up all year long?

    August 17, 2011 at 8:11 pm |
    • Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA

      Hi Emily.....
Yes, It was....... people have listen what weather said, it was fail listen when stage collasped during weather storm!!!! They broke their rules, That's why they have to check if there problem as well...... Good question, Emily.

        Hi Megan!
Thanks. I never really feel comfortable going to Fairs when they take down stages, rides, etc. I can remember reading about people who would be seriously injured (or killed) on rides that broke apart when they were on them. These rides were not properly inspected, or looked after. Very unsafe and careless. On a happy note, there were not more deaths at the Indiana State Fair. It was such a huge crowd.

good point about "presidents get points for leadership" – as long as the followers of a strong leader are not merely lemmings going over the cliff, merely to follow the leader

I think that David is correct! Obama should have thought about this plan before, now, as in last year. Obama, himself is correct that if the unemployment rate is still so low on Election day, he'll be a one term president.
