Republicans, in their appetite for power, backed and supported Tea Party candidates. We are all now held hostage by these simpletons who have no understanding of our history, how government works and what it takes to run an economy in a global world. Democrats, for their part, have failed several times to seize moment and lead the country in the right direction. They have, unfortunately, been deluded enough to entertain the notion that the Tea Party zealots might be willing to negotiate. They want what they want when they want it .... just like a bunch of spoiled rotten toddlers who have just enough cognitive development to understand how to minimally manipulate mom and dad by letting loose unbridled their base emotions. These kids need a serious time out, and the adults have to take control again.

I watched your show last night and noticed the look of surprise on your face and your guest indicated the Republicans were "blowing up" the economy. You carefully interviewed the man about the economic impact of not passing "something" that will stablize the situation. By the end of the interview, the man all but plainly said that there would be little negative impact and that Obama should bypass Congress. Was I correct about your reaction with this and other interviews I saw? You seemed so shocked that these Democrats are so unwilling to get something done.

Fareed Zakaria's entire comments about Democracy was so far off base it's indescribably. Where did he take his Civics lessons? This is a Republic and those Tea Party politicians he's referring to are doing EXACTLY what ALL politicians OUGHT to do! They are REPRESENTING the people who elected them and sent them to Washington to do a job. It's about time that politicians were more concerned with keeping they word, keeping their campaign promises, doing what they said they would, and REPRESENTING the people that sent them there than they are about getting REELECTED! Btw, I am NOT a member of the Tea Party but I sure do appreciate folks who have honor, character, and integrity! It is NOT those who are voting against the Debt Ceiling that are holding this country hostage. It is those people who spent money they didn't have and committed funds to whatever that was never there and then force the debt ceiling to be raised and the USA to borrow money. Fareed obviously doesn't understand a very simple, common-sense principle. NOBODY should make a commitment that they cannot keep and you don't commit the USA to spending money and then say, "But you MUST loan us money or we can't pay our bills!" That is holding the USA hostage!!!! And what happens if nobody will loan the USA any more money? Oh yeah, the Treasury will just print more. Now that's gonna help!
