Marcus Bachmann speaks out on controversial clinic: Join the Live Chat

Michele Bachmann’s husband Marcus is breaking his silence about the controversial clinic he runs and co-owns with his wife. Tonight we’re Keeping Him Honest beginning at 10pm ET.

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

well i think he was encouraged by the wife to get himself a young girl – think about it – she was probably going through that all these years and perhaps she could not get away but if she replaced herself with a younger girl then she would finally be left alone – i mean, what did he do BEFORE jaycee?

I don't have a stong enough word for the couple who "stalked" children.

God bless Ms. Dugard & her children. I pray and hope that she will have a chance at a "good" life, without any more nightmares. (Although i know keeping the memories away will likely be difficult.)

Shame on the parole officers. Hopefully this case will teach All involved with the system to be much more astute.

  19. Andrew Bell, Ph.D.

Is Dr. Bachmann a licensed psychologist? In what area does he hold a Ph.D.? Is it from an accredited institution? Is he a member of the American Psychological Association? If the answer is yes, he is violating APA ethics by implementing a practice outside of the scope of psychology. APA recently published an exhaustive review and analysis of reparative therapy and concluded that it does not meet standards of ethical practice, and that it can additionally be harmful to clients. PSychologists lose licenses for such things - santeria, voodoo, reparative therapy, and other fringe practices are not considered within the scope of psychology. He should not be allowed to practice within this field.

Good point Andrew!!!!!!! You are so absolutely right!

      July 15, 2011 at 10:49 pm |
    • Nina

The real question would be... is he a Licensed Psychologist? And which state is he licensed in? Each state differs a little regarding approved types of therapy; however, if he is licensed, then he must abide by the APA

      July 15, 2011 at 10:50 pm |
    • Jeff

You are exactly correct it is a spiritual issue not a psychological one.

It seems that we are Not alone in our struggles to get the Gov. to "hear" the people.

I pray for the Syrian people, the Lybian people, & the Egyptian people,as well as for our country & Any people who are striving for Independce, freedom and especially to be HEArd.

The hoax of our generation is believing, without any scientific proof, that people are born homosexuals. That would be a slap in the face of the Creator Himself. Yet some even believe and promote that people are born alcoholics....how absurd! If this keeps up, we will start teaching that people are born Yankee fans or Democrats and they can't change. Wierd?

There is an old gay saying that I knew very well......."eveyone's gay". If that's true and I believe it is, then everyone is also straight.........meaning there is a choice. I know from experience, that one can live a straight life, even if one has lived a gay life.

Interesting... if you repeat a fallacy over and over again... will the mass public believe it eventually? The power of propaganda!!!

    July 15, 2011 at 10:21 pm |
  34. Paula, Colorado

Though personal belief doesn't need to be a hindrance for a Presidential candidate, I agree that she should answer for what the seemingly church-offshoot clinic is doing.

As i came into the show late, i did Not realize that Federal funds were available to a religious counseling center to change gay people into straight!!

      Interesting, Starr... Good Evening
We continue to waste money on issues that are not even helping individuals...

Hi Nina. I agree with you re: tax monies. This goes right along with the converted Muslim who is giving "terror" talks to 1st reponders!
If anyone could do an honest audit of the Fed. Gov. I bet we could save LOTS of money!

People who want to get counseling for their feelings, etc. is different, than going asking for the doctor to "change them".

    July 15, 2011 at 10:16 pm |
  37. Gloria, Brooklyn, NY

I believe change relays in one self.

    Hi Anderson!

Been following this story. It's an absolute disgrace that people still treat gays so horribly and believe such therapy methods are actually effective. They are harmful and do not work. It's time for the United States to join the rest of the 1st world, and stop living in ignorance about gays. On the issue of Marcus Bachmann, I believe everything he says is important, since Michelle Bachmann said she listens to and follows everything her husband says. If she gets elected, it will be Marcus calling the political shots, not Michelle. Therefore, his views are arguably more important than hers.

  39. Emily

I think that people who speak with their Rabbi, or Priest, etc. is much different than going to a Doctor.

Good evening Anderson & Team 360.

    Hello blogger friends!

My feeling, as a medical professional, is that gay/lesbian etc. is a genetic trait. It is Not possible to "change" gay to "straight". It is a true shame that there are people in the world who continue to think that being "gay" is a "choice.

If this counseling can make homosexuals straight, wouldn't it track that they could counsel heterosexuals to become homosexuals?

      Yes, It is.
