No deal yet in debt talks as Obama's deadline looms: Join the Live Chat
After a fifth meeting in five days failed Thursday to achieve a deficit reduction deal, President Barack Obama told top congressional leaders to reach an agreement on the way forward by early Saturday, officials said.
Obama will hold a news conference at 11 a.m. Friday to discuss efforts to reach a deal on the debt ceiling and budget cuts, according to a senior administration official.
No formal negotiations are planned Friday.

Good night everyone. I've never seen Glee I'm afraid to say. I guess I'll tune in and see what it's about. At lease they're not vampires. Seems like alot of television now is about either "real housewives" of somewhere or vampires. Great show tonight as usual and great commentary as usual.

Extremes on both sides of the financial side.
I had so much freedom growing up to walk here and there at that age, even my own kids when younger walked home from school at a fairly young age. Sadly, times have changed and I would not allow that now. I don't know if there is actually more of these type of crimes or we just hear about them more.
We can tell them not to go home with stranger, over and over again.

A heartbreaking story of the 8 year old NY boy. His last moments are unthinkable. A horrific, horrific way to die.
Much strength and prayers for the family.
I have heard when rehearsing safety rules with children you should tell them if lost and need to talk to someone when police are not available, go to a store worker or a woman with children (a mother) usually they're safe.
He is in denial because if he really looked at what he did... he would see himself as a monster!!!
This is so horrific! This really could happen anywhere ... it's great that this family has alot of support.
I always tell my son to never go anywhere alone. I think this applies equally to adults. It is not a safe world.
@Lori, it does apply to adults. When I am alone in a parking lot and someone approaches me to ask a question I keep walking and use my grocery cart as a defense tool. I few weeks ago two women approched me and asked the time – I wasn't wearing a watch and had no purse or cell phone.
What a tragic story about the 8 year old child. So innocent and to be met with such a horrific ending. ~sigh~

Since his neighbors had an eerie feeling about him, I wonder just what else he's gotten away with? (perhaps what he's done to animals, and children, etc). Very disturbing.
