Evolution vs. creationism. Nature or God; God or nature? Church and state; church or state?
Same sex marriage is correct whether under God, because of nature, as sanctified by church, or as sanctified by state.
In short, the issue itself should be moved to the Ridiculist.
I’ve been actively gay for half a century and am absolutely certain I was born gay. I have been in a loving, happy, plainly wonderful marriage to my same-sex partner for over 30 years. We are caring, good, kind people. We are contributing members in this society and have each been taxpayers for fifty years. That’s 100 combined years of taxes collected from us while we have remained second class citizens denied equal rights.
While we have not chosen to raise children, we know many gay couples who have and who have done or are doing a great job of it. So, whether just living as a gay couple or as a gay couple raising children, there is no possible justification
for prolonging an affirmative vote on this issue and giving us lesser rights in this society.
Sorry to say it so blatantly… BIGOTRY is bigotry no matter to whom it is directed. This is same old, same old bigotry – now trying harder than ever to find some remaining umbrella to hang its hat on .
The moment has come for legislators to stop counting their votes and to start legislating morally and ethically under God, under nature, and under a free government … as human beings for the positive potential of humanity.

I can understand Obama's evolution towards his position. He wants to get elected and has been pragmatic. What I don't understand is how Anderson Cooper justifies this sort of BS. Cooper was born with EVERYTHING and used his wealth to play journalist and act all brave. He's pretty silent in that closet he's in. I wonder how many young gay people Anderson could help by just coming out of the closet but I guess self interest works when you are a journalist but not running for president.
I'm really kind of disappointed in you. I think the 'evolving' Obama is talking about is the change in terms from "Marriage" to "civil union" Most christians have a problem attaching the sacrament of marriage to same sex couples. We are very supportive of civil unions and have no desire to withhold basic rights to gays. I personally think gay couples should have all the civil rights that straights have. Obama just thought better to not call it marriage. Semantics.
