Reports: Weiner's Wife is Pregnant – Join the Live Chat

We have breaking news out of Yemen. The New York Times is reporting the U.S. is stepping up its covert airstrikes there against al Qaeda targets due to the power vacuum due to the uprising. Plus, breaking developments on the new push for Misrata by pro-Gadhafi forces in Libya.
And, here at home, amid growing calls for Rep. Anthony Weiner to resign, there are new reports his wife is pregnant. We'll have the latest developments.

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

No Anderson. We would never think you guilty of doing silly stunts or of being a matinee idol. Great Ridiculist. Good show tonight.

    Good night everyone. Stay safe.

Thank you and good night Anderson & Team 360.

Good night fellow writers too. I wish you a safe & peaceful day tomorrow.

Ridiculist: Love it! I can't believe you found yet another way to use the taser clip, and of course the BD dog & pony show.
Thanks for the laughs Anderson. These days we really need them.

I really think that Anderson is painfully right on this. Water is the least of Wiener's problems. Seriously.

I wonder why they are hauling grenade launchers around on an airplane anyway. Shouldn't they leave them at the base or something.

How is it possible that a 5-year old boy is "forced" into therapy without the parents' consent? I believe the parents wanted this therapy as much as the researchers wanted to test their theories. In my opinion, the parents of Craig have a lot of soul searching to do for allowing their 5-year old son to be made a lab rat. Depressing example of parental misjudgement.

    June 8, 2011 at 10:52 pm |

I agree. The parents bought into it.

if a person is in a position where they feel they need to fabricate an answer in order for themselves or the answer to be "acceptable", being in that situation is psychologically unhealthy

I can't believe that the Gov. supported such an abusive program! He was only 5 yrs. old.

Since Kirk did not survive, this "treatment" is Not a success.

Rekers was just a graduate student! Not qualified, in my book, to administer any "treatment" to anybody.
If he was punished (spanking i heard) for improper responses, of course he learned to avoid those behavior.

And, once again, another person who is a hypocrit – Mr. Rekers that would be you and your male "escort".
His sister is right, he deserved protection and unconditional love, like All children.

You are so right, Starr. Very sad story all around.

It's just pathetic...the researcher who is fighting his own 'demons'.

      June 8, 2011 at 10:52 pm |
  17. Lori, CA

I agree with his sister. They need to add information to the publication on this study. I am completely against use of people in scientific research, especially children.

    June 8, 2011 at 10:47 pm |
  18. mark, ohio

I feel bad for this young man who chose to end his life and his family, however, many children have horrendous childhoods, having lived in a home with alcoholics/addicts I can say that the abuse can be visceral and the punishment random, the lack of consistency even harder for a child. Many of these children also commit suicide, but as adults abused children must take some control for themselves and seek out help in the form of intense therapy if necessary.
Aversion therapy is disgusting and still used in some 'medical treatments', specifically in addiction treatment; and this experiment is despicable, but no one thing can be responsible for an adult taking their own life, for each adult must accept some responsibility for their own fate.

With a baby now in the equation, everything has changed. Hopefully Anthony Wiener should focus on his personal life and seek help because very soon there will be a child that will need him.

I am watching about "Sissy Boy" by Anderson....... It break my heart for his family.... who changed his life, he died by himself. Horrible story! 😦

    June 8, 2011 at 10:44 pm |

Yes, it's so sad. Never know what made him take his own life. This story is a big possibility but they'll never know. I feel sorry for the family, so much guilt.

am quite interested in seeing what the original conductor of the "therapy" has to say in a current context – am surprised that he is still quoting this as reference (was it a one-time group thing, or did they conduct these "therapies" in an ongoing context for more years, different groups, etc)

The Casey Anthony case is sad, but chilling. Researching how to kill someone, much less an innocent child, is really sick.

Hi Anderson Cooper and AC360 crews,
Government study to transform an effeminate 5-yr-old boy into god only knows how the study will affect him the rest of his life....well it turned out tragically. I pray for his innocent spirit to rest in eternal peace.

  29. lisal -canada

the casey anthony trial is so strange – it still sounds like there are missing pieces – perhaps she was scared of someone from her party-group who threatened her – if i was looking up "breaking someone's neck" i would be thinking of being threatened by an adult, not trying to disable a child

    June 8, 2011 at 10:32 pm |

I can't listen to the details of this case without cringing. This is so horrible. Can't imagine what the little girls other relatives are going through listening to this stuff.

I agree Janis, i have to turn the sound down when this story is discussed. I simply cannot understand how a mother could kill her own child, especially one who was so loved by her grand parents and others.

I still think he shouldn't resign. If he hasn't broken any laws, leave it up to New York. I also think people need to consider his wife and her condition. He needs to clean up his own life without our help.

We have other breaking news Rep Anthony Weiner's wife is also pregnant right now..... People wanted him out of his position congressman and step down........ That is very shocking news for us to hear.

I'm not saying Weiner should or shouldn't go but notice that Republican Vitter is still there. No one called for his resignation when he was having sex with numerous prostitutes after campaigning on "family values".

    Evening Anderson & Team 360.

Hello, Nancy, Nichole, Megan, JoAnn, Mike, Casey, Nina, Chi, Sharon H. MaryBeth, everyone.

How many wars are we fighting? I don't necessarily disagree with "action" in Yemen due to the danger of Alquiada (sp?) on the Arabian peninsula. But seriously, how many countries can the US "intervene" in? (realistically)

    June 8, 2011 at 10:06 pm |
  40. Sharon Hastings

Good evening everyone. Absolutely. There must be a ton of covert efforts going on in Yemen for quite some time. Those groups represent a definite threat to our security. They should be watched, infiltrated, hunted, and neutralized by whatever means. They have shown they will attack us in the U.S. and abroad any chance they get. Alot we don't know and this is a good thing since the efforts have to be in secret in order to work.
