I don't feel that the detailed explanation regarding how facial recognition software is being used and how it can be thwarted is in our best interests. This is similar to the irresponsible journalist that reported that US intelligence was tracking bin Laden's satellite telephone which led him to stop using it. That person bears some responsibility for all of the innocents that died subsequent to that report.
Now terrorists (and criminals) know that all they have to do is wear glasses and a hat to thwart facial recognition software. How does that serve our broader interests and security? Unfortunately, in some cases, journalists don't think of the broader ramifications of what's being reported, instead showing a lack of good judgement and common sense.
