That is terrible! I don't like the idea of dogs being forced to parachute from a plane. It must be frightening for them!
Yes!!! I agree, Good point!!!!!! 🙂
It's all in the training. Those are the best cared for dogs in the world.
Good night Anderson and Sanjay. Good night everyone. Sweet dreams and have a good weekend.
Good night Lori!!!!! Same to you!
Thanks, Peter Bergen. Hope to hear more. Very interesting conversations.
Good job Dr. Sanjay!!!!! I also agree with his point...... Technology are most best frame I have seen that!!!! I love that!!!
I love technology, Megan. So many great tools.
Yes! I agree with you, Janis!!! 🙂
Zawahiri may not be charismatic, but Awlaki is. If they work together there could be trouble.
Hello Everyone!
Hello Gloria,
Glad see you join so late tonight! 🙂
Facial recognition gives me peace of mind
the brittany spears look kinda works ... i was thinking earlier in the broadcast "gee – that mic looks really cool"
I want to see the picture of his body. Will Pakistan now accept the fact that it harbors terrorists like OBL?
Wow! NYC by night. So beautiful!
Yes, it is very beauitful view in NYC!!!!! That is so special place to see this view! I agree!
I really appreciated the conversations with Peter Bergen concerning al-qaeda. I'm trying to understand the psyche of these religious zealots and Peter Bergen seems to know alot about them. It reminds me of gangs in America but I'm not sure. Lots of questions.
they do remind me of the gangs here. you wounder if they will run the same way after the leader was taken down.
I think way too much militarily sensitive material is getting released.
I agree. Honestly speaking, there are things that I do not need to know and will be just fine to never know. Others though, they are all about transparency. They want to to know everything because if they don't, they think there's a conspiracy.
I find it difficult to believe that the ISI had no idea that Bin Laden was living in Pakistan
Many feel that the Pakistanis had to know bin Laden was in the compound. Did I hear correctly that the compound had been under surveillance for quite a long time by the CIA who had a place nearby. If true, then if we feel the Pakistanis had to know bin Laden was there, would we not then expect them to also know that the CIA was nearby which I assume they did not know. So perhaps they did not know bin Laden was in the compound.
Good point!!!! They did not know where was Osama bin Laden hiding in Compound area. They did also lying to us that, One person already knew where was he. So, That was so not good idea to lie us at all.
Actually, I'm very surprised at all the transparency with our military actions.
The nature of the target and need for it to be public led to the efforts to share. We can be sure there is 90% that goes on in similar actions that very few will ever know about
Agreed. Like a bunch of "loose lipped" bloggers to blow future missions. LOL
I am glad that related people are being arrested.
I agree, I also glad they already arrested, too!
So NOW the Pakistanis act. A bit late.
Yes!!!!! I agree..... That was too late for Paskitan grab him!!!!! ( fail find Osama bin Laden)
According to them, there was no reason to act. They had no knowledge of anything. The old "know nothing, see nothing, hear nothing" defense.
I know there are other terrorists in Pakistan, but it is kind of like closing the door after the horse has left the barn.
It is disturbing that OBL was in Pakistan for so long and no one reported it.
@Paula 10:16 is it useful?
Hi Everyone! Hi Anderson!
The administration wanted to give as much info as they could up front which has always, whether war or disasters or??, always changed. The press, including several CNN reporters and contributors have admitted the press demands for instant details can be detrimental. Bottom line is these things always change, legitimately over time so we need to quit picking at it and move on.
It would appear that the concept of war is changing. I think bringing the troops home is a good idea because covert operations and intelligence appear to be more effective when dealing with terrorists. Terrorists are sneaky, so to counteract them, we must become sneaky. Our enemies are no longer in the open. Congratulations to the Seals and Obama for bringing 'em in.
I agree with you Roberta. Bring them home out of harm's way and let technology take over.
It's good they found so much info at the Compound.
I can't wait for Sanjay's report! He gets to play with some of the coolest stuff.
I think there will be some real eye-opening information obtained from bin laden's house. Should be very interesting times to come in world politics.
Absolutely Janis. I was surprised to learn though that Bin Laden had all that info/intel there in his home. Sounds like a real treasure trove of stuff. Hope we can use it to our benefit.
@Janis 10:06 Like! 😀
Wow just went on this site for the first time , its great very informative!
Why would they describe what they got? It gives away what they know to Al Queda.
Ditto. I'm sure they released the train info because of the significance to 9/11, but I highly doubt we'll learn much more about future stuff. Maybe some about stuff that's already been thwarted?
Some of this stuff is old or never going to happen, like the de-railing of trains.
It makes you wonder what they didn't release.
Locations of camps, dates of attacks, phone numbers of contacts, ect...
Yeah, we don't need to know that stuff. I just hope it is good.
if the photos that prove Bin Laden is dead are too gory to show why not show the photos with a black dot over the wounded area, or other photos from the scene that show his body but not the "blown off head". ?
What about photos prior to burial at sea, did they nor clean up the body? Why not the photo of the navy seal lying down beside the corpse to verify his height? With teh absence of any photo at all it is difficult to believe that this story is true.
agreed....too many weak links in that chain of events...
I agree Mike. Too much information being released. I can remember a time when the public wouldn't have known or expected to know any of this.
I've been very impressed with the military's special missions the past several months. The creation of the No-fly zone in Libya was flawless and now the precision of the Bin Laden mission. Along with the extraordinary work, bravery and sacrifice of all our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, I'm very proud of my country. Thank you, all military!!
@Heleni Why do you say so?
it was me being snarky.
If Bin Laden has been killed, do not think for a minute that Al Qaeda is out. They will just find a new leader.
They have at least two possibilities, Ayman al-Zawahiri and Anwar al-Awlaki.
I hope we can get some of the other leaders and really hinder their ability to do serious harm. And on another topic entirely–does it seem like there are too many helicopter malfunctions in these things? Why?
they are very hard to fly. no joke, both hands and feet are used to keep it in the air. one small move you go down.
I think, because they are always flying into tight places and close to ground gunfire. I remember in Viet Nam, the most dangerous job was being a helicopter pilot.
Bin Laden murdered more than 3,000 people, does it really matter if he was armed or not?
To me it doesn't. Unarmed, but possibly moving toward a hidden weapon...how are the SEALs to know? I find no fault with their action and deeply admire them.
If they had waited to find out for sure the SEALS could have been dead. In this case shoot first and ask questions later.
That's just it. They can't wait and see. It isn't that kind of situation.
Apparently, it matters to some people! Not me though!
Bleeding heart liberals are all bent out of shape over the possibility.
I'm a liberal, but not about that! 🙂
Good way to put it! I am too, in many ways, but certainly not all and certainly not in this case.
Good point question, I agree yours, he was armed. he killed our innocent people his life.
Happy Friday everyone!
If I end up leaving early tonight, have a great weekend, JoAnn! Mother's Day and all.
Thanks Nancy, I don't have kids, but I hope your day is wonderful!
Only DNA would identify Bin Laden. That is, if the DNA they compared to was actually Bin Ladens.
Good point, Nina...... You're right!!!!!!!!
Why is it that we are given information that later has to be recalled as details emerge? Why say anything at all until the intel is clear to begin with?
I think because people were demanding answers so quickly and if they didn't give them out right away, people would have been shouting "conspiracy!"....which they are anyway. 🙁
I suspect that's a big part of it, MaryBeth. Demands to 'tell all now' are so immediate, so loud, like having someone in your face the moment a crisis has passed...no wonder it results in what this week's information releases have shown.
And how is showing his photo much different than showing his blood on the floor in his compound? It's been described in enough detail in the media as to its nature, might as well let it out now.
Spoofing with fake pictures really makes a difference, doesn't it?
I agree with that. Judging by the recent al-Qaeda threat, I guess the radicals didn't need a photo to inspire them.
The details of this raid are so confusing!
This story changes daily.
I imagine most stories of battle and confrontational episodes do, don't you think, Mike? As more and more time passes, more info and perspectives are added? Seems natural to me since it even happens where I work, after traumas.
They should have waited in the White House until they had the story.
I tend to agree, Mike....no matter how loudly or obnoxiously reporters and citizens clamor at the gate for information 'Now', they should just make it a practice to say some version of 'no comment at this time' until they've spent a week or whatever it takes to gather all the information. Of course, that'd go over like a lead balloon, but it'd probably be a better policy.
The pentagon, The cia and our military must be liars.
No Heleni...... I am sorry to say this, I also disagree your comment....... They did not lie at all.......
It seems a good time to target some of these key people, as in Yemen.
Regards folks!
Hello everyone. Interesting perspective inside the WH after bin Laden mission.
American armed forces are so cool. Esp. SEALS 🙂
Huge agreement with you Chi!!
I agree, Me too. 🙂
YES! I agree........... They are so proud our country their service today, They are so smart & brave! 🙂
